How I Spent My Incentive Bucks...

...and more

Head gasket time!

While he was in there, I took this opportunity to take care of a few issues, new water pump, coolant tank, timing belt and tensioner, hoses, plugs, cap, rotor, deleted the A/C, scraped about 20 lbs of grease and dirt from the engine bay and lowered the front end a bit.

Don, one point after taking another envious glance at the engine room; the fuel return hose from the regulator is up against the radiator hose. It would be best to re-route it away from such a heat source.

The British Ford Corsair used to run a fuel line across the top of the radiator along with some electical cables. Time + heat + vibration.....

A friends Corsair came a to an untimely end when the fuel line let go while he was in a gas station. Spark - flames.... not pretty.

Thanks for the tip! I'll check it out tomorrow.

And thanks to everyone for the comments above.

It's been a great week, got the GTV6 back on the road and the Lakers are going to the NBA finals. It doesn't get much better...

Thanks! The plenum and valve covers are painted with an Eastwood product called Alumablast. I got the tip from Charlie DeMarco of Serpent Autosport.

Small update...the beast still had a misfire, wouldn't pass smog and had a small oil leak from one of the valve covers. A new oxygen sensor, new plugs and a bit of wrenching and it passed with flying colors.

Many thanks go out to Emilio at A&A in Santa Barbara for helping me get it back on the road...
