Alfetta steering wheel
I have a 1976 Alfetta with a small after market wheel. I would like to replace it with a stock larger steering wheel. The previous Alfetta I had used a steering wheel that seems identical to a Spider wheel. Are they interchangable? thanks

I have a pretty good standard steering wheel from a 79 spider. I don't want much for it. If you want to risk the shipping cost, I will send it to you and you can try it.

Funny, I was about to post a thread about this tonight. I'm looking for a very nice Alfetta wheel or a spider wheel if it fits.
Ed, wanna sell if he doesn't want it?

Guys, I just sort of stumbled onto this thread, but Alfetta and GTV6 (and assume Milano) steering wheels are splined. Not sure if they ever changed, but pretty sure up to '79 at least the Spider steering wheels are keyed.

If your aftermarket wheel is a momo or similar, you may simply be able to buy a larger wheel that fits the hub. I reckon a 350 -380mm diam wheel is ideal. Any smaller or larger than that is a problem.
Oh, unless you've got splined columns in spiders over there (who knows with the later models that we didn't get), an spider wheel ain't gunna fit o n an alfetta

What about the late 80's and early 90's Spider wheels? There is one steering wheel on some of those models that looks identical to a GTV-6 wheel except that the spokes are a composite material instead of leather. There's one on ebay now:
eBay Motors: Alfa Romeo Spider Steering Wheel fits 1986 -90 Spider (item 250244528656 end time May-11-08 07:40:42 PDT)

Regarding the eBay steering wheel. You did notice the keyway did you not? No splines.

Got it. The photo was too small for me to make it out at first glance.

my '77 alfetta sedan has a gtv6 wheel installed which obviously fits except that the horn doesn't work. there is a gap between the hub and the electrical contact on the wheel so the horn does not connect. i have to admit that i haven't put any real time & effort into seeing if i could get it to work but it does not connect as it is. just for whatever it's worth . . . .

FYI, If you're looking at an Alfetta wheel that's good but has bad horn buttons, you can get those from Alfaholics (I think). I got some for my car, and I'm as happy as one can be with functioning horn buttons.

I originally got this Fittipaldi wheel for my '85 GTV6 eons ago. When I sold the car the wheel moved to my Alfetta GT. The diameter is 385 mm. I love it except for the garish Fittipaldi logo. Unfortunately two holes were drilled to install it, otherwise the logo would be gone. Perhaps I'm a weakling but these cars are a ***** to turn at low speeds so I ordered the largest one I could find. At one point I modified my steering column so I have a wider range of up and down movement with the wheel.
