I think GVVGTV6 is correct, but to save you some trouble, the numbers I've seen are: 1980 = 1, 1981 = 1272, 1982 = 1116, 1983 = 513, 1984 = 1050, 1985 = 722, 1986 = 1020 (est), for a US total of 5694. sorry no breakdown by color, at least I've never seen a breakdown by color. the source for these no's. may be the BB actually. a couple of years ago, I started a thread to guage support for a GTV6 register. there can't be that many left (1000 -1500 would be my guess and that may be high), but this idea was a non-starter. care to try again?

if so, the last 4 digits of the VIN on my 1981 metallic cloud grey (AR 754, build date, according to Elvira = 05/31/1981) are 1531. I'll supply more info - location, mods, first sale, first and subsequent US sales (I'm the 3rd owner, since 08/1987), time-trial history (an official low 1:08 and an unofficial high 1:06, both at Lime Rock) if you want.

I think a register would be nice. Im sure well under 1000 good drivers are left.
Several thousand rusted wrecks that are beyond restoration are sitting around. This was the last sports coupe made by Alfa Romeo Spa, and it had a superb racing record(better than the 1600 GTA in Europe). It is still under valued as its rarer that the both the 1750 GTV and 2000 GTV Bertone.(
I have a GTV also). I understand they made around 25,000 GTV6's worldwide.
Does anyone have world production numbers??

Agree about the register.

Production figures from "Alfa Romeo Sports Coupes" by Graham Robson are:

GTV6 2.5 17,704
GTV6 2.5 (US Spec) 4,674
GTV6 3.0 (South Africa only) 200

I've got another reference I'll check as well.

Should the register be a separate thread from this one? Here is my info in any case.

Year: 1984
Color: Grigio Chiaro Metallic (762)
Build date: March 1984
VIN: 6xxx (prefer not to post the full VIN on a public website but mine is in the 6000 number range)
Mostly stock except for full ANSA system (but contemplating reverting back to stock)

Would be interested in a registry as well. Hadn't really thought about how few of these you see on the road. My '83 is silver with a blue interior. Think I've seen 3 or 4 other '83s over the years, and they were all silver with blue interiors.

We should start a new thread for the registry. I have a silver/blue 1983 GTV6 also. That was a good color for the car. I also like the early cars(pre-1984) clean look due to the lack any door strips from the factory. My other
GTV6 is a 1982 Balocco number #210. I already have photos of my 1983 GTV6 posted. It will be at the convention in Chicago this year.

1,000-1,500 left?? I think that may be very low. I have owned at least 50 of them and have about 23 right now. I'll bet there are more like 2,000 or so.
They are one of the most under-appreciated sports cars of all time.

A registry would be cool. I would like to document the ones that come through me for restoration, or sadly, parts. I know I have had 4 Balocco's !!

Hey Tom,

Number 211 sounding in out here in Oregon. Where is #212?

Here is a link to an Alfetta registry that was set up:

http://alfetta.sanakan.com/dat/regis...ister_show.php

A North America Alfetta registry would be a nice tracking tool.

According to the S.A. build thread the South African GTV6 totals are as follows:

S.A. built GTV6 2.5 1982-1985 477 total
S.A. built GTV6 3.0 1984-1985 242 total (the factory figures show 212)

I would like to know the Italian build figures. Did they build any GTV6's in Spain or Ireland?? I think we should be more concerned with build figures
then import figures, but we can do both in time.

We should start a world GTV6 registry. I still think well under 1000 good drivers are left in the USA. Most of the ones your see around the country are either broken down parts cars or in need of alot of work.

Best,
Tom Tanner/SD

P.S.
I will start a "World GTV6 Register Thread" later this week.

I've got another book that lists VIN number ranges by year for the GTV-6 and many other Alfas. While these VIN ranges may not map exactly to build quantities, I found the serial number scheme interesting. It looks like they changed the scheme in 84.

Here it what it listed.

USA cars (the * is a year letter and digit before that is check digit shown as 0 here):
1981 From ZAR116690*00001001
1982 From ZAR116690*00002001
1983 From ZAR116690*00005001
1984 From ZAR116690*00005501
1985 From ZAR116690*00006411
1986 From ZAR116690*00007501

Rest of the world cars:
1980 (Mostly not for production sale - for company and competition use)
ZAR116C00*00001001 to ZAR116C00*00006000
1981 ZAR116C00*00007001 to ZAR116C00*00008000
1982 ZAR116C00*00008001 to ZAR116C00*00010500
1983 ZAR116C00*00012001 to ZAR116C00*00015210
1984 ZAR116C00*00015211 to ZAR116C00*00017600
1985 ZAR116C00*00017601 to ZAR116C00*00019000
1986 ZAR116C00*00020040 to ZAR116C00*00020400

It doesn't list the numbers for the 3.0 engine cars.

Looking forward to your registry thread.

Sounds good to me. Since only you can edit the first post in that thread how about you put it there so it appears before the other posts.
