car alarm and stereo?

Hi,

I just bought a one owner 1982 gtv6. I was wondering what you all recommend in terms of a car alarm and stereo. I live in the city and just want to deter people breaking the glass just to get whatever is in the car. I understand the stereo opening for the car is small which limits what I can get for a stereo.

Are the new stereos with high output just too much for the old gtv6 wiring. I don't want to blow any fuses and don't really care how great my streo would sound. I just want to listen to NPR when I'm sitting in traffic.
