Alfetta seat belt upgrade?
Hi, our Alfetta could use some help with the seat belts retracting. I'm pretty sure I could just take the two front belts (having trouble with the fronts) apart and wind up the spring a bit more but I'm wondering if I should just upgrade to a newer GTV-6/Milano/164 belt?
Has anyone messed around with this?
Larry Jr. installed 164 belts on his Milano (now Potenziato's ) and the action is 10X better than the stock Milano belts. Can you see where this is going?
If anyone has done this kind of mod or has any tips, please let me know!

Good idea, I wonder why it never occured to me... the Alfetta winds the belts back like thunder: occassionally. I'll have a go with the belts from my ex-33 (they are in the garage), and post the results.
(Never had any problems with the similarly old Spider belts, though!)

BTW, the 164 belts not only retract a bit faster, the action is like silk compared to the Milano. Very refined feel to it. To be honest, 164 belts would feel a bit out of place in a clunky old Alfetta

So I take it none has done this, not even on a GTV-6? I guess I"ll have to report back then.

I tend to say that if the seat belts aren't working properly you would want to buy a new set and be safe. If you start messing around with the tension can you be sure that they will work properly in an accident?? A hundred bucks is a small price to pay to keep from going through the windshield.

Haven't thought of it that way.
But, if it came down to it I'd be updating the seat belts with a Milano type anyhow. I've got a parts car, why not?

Well, $100 is more than my HMO co-pay
Seriously, I'd be interested in seeing what you all find. My Gt's seatbelts are both slow to retract, and the passenger one is hard to extend, too. Plus they have the usual signs of age.

Hey, what kind of mileage do you get in your Alfettas Chris?
I drove down to school a few days ago and I used 9 gallons of gas and covered 200 miles, and I think the odometer is optimistic!
Last night I leaned the Spica out but I haven't installed my wide band so I don't know what the mixture really is at.

You know, I haven't measured it very closely since I mostly use public transit to get to work... but I'll have a better idea when I'm back from my Seattle-Vancouver road trip at the end of May. Low twenties sounds about what I measured, though... should probably be more like 25mpg.
