Gearbox Sensor Problem

Hi guys, it's been a long time since drinks!

I have a delema.

I have a TS Gearbox in my GTV6. My speedo doesn't work. There is no problem with the actual sensor. What do I do??

Get the amplifier and wiring that is under rear seat in the Milano aka 75 to go with sensor in 75 gear box and get a 5 wire 86 GTV6 speedo or Milano (75) speedometer guts and mod GTV6 speedo housing to accept them.

AlfaGTV6.com Discussion Forum some more info here in archives.

look on EBAY for a " dakota digital sgi-5" this is a speedo calibrationg device..there are 2 dealers on there and you should be able to get it for a total of about 75-80$ shipped

simplistic to hook up and imo the "correct" solution for the problem...HOWEVER there is 1 issue you may or may not come into...depending on the sensor in your transaxle you may or may not need the "jaeger" box from a milano wired in as well( speedo to sgi-5 to jaeger to sensor)..also plan on running a new power wire off the battery to the sgi-5 and jaeger..use the old speedo "power" wire to trigger a low amp relay...alot of us useing the sgi-5 ran into a problem of the tach and speedo power wire too close to eachother and the sgi5 picks it up..relay and fresh power solves it

Thanks for the responses guys. Does this "Dekota" system actually work? Can you simplify the explanation. Electrical is not my forte! Thanks guys, I do appreciate it!
Oh I thought I'd mention, that my car is a racecar, not a road car, so prettiness isn't an issue!

I had problems with my speedo. Sensor OK but no speedo. I did unscrew the speedo and tried with speedo hanging, was working. The fault was in the speedo. I did put it back but I did not screw it to hard. Now it is working. Sometimes it doesnt but with a little bang on the glass it works so I don't bother to fix it. Good luck.

pretty simple and straight forward....3 wires off the sensor ..1 is ground 1 is signal 1 is 12v(Pink: 12v ...... Yellow: Signal ...... "No Cable Insulation": Ground)

from the speedo you have a 12v power(its not clean tho) and a "signal" wire (pink = 12v power, red/white = signal in)

the dakota has outlets on it to connect the wires to connect the wires to makeing it SIMPLE

i HIGHLY sugjest haveing the "jaeger box" just in case.....if you have the jaeger box just translate what the colors off the sender are where they go into the jaeger box and connect to the un-used side of the jaeger to the SGI-5

run a 12v small guage line from the battery to a small relay 2 ground wires (1 for the sgi-5 1 for the relay) use the 12v off the speedo and connect it to the "switch" side of the relay and run a power wire from the relay to the power side of the sgi5

it sounds complicated but once you have it all in front of you its easyer to understand and is a CAKEWALK!!!

if in doubt or you have "odd" color combinations refer to this
ALFAGTV6.COM ~ View topic - Speedometer Sensor Question

as far as "setup" on the sgi5..you simply push "up" or "down" buttons to change what your speedo is reading...if posible borrow someones GPS unit to verify speed

i just did mine a few weeks ago so its all still fresh in my head
