Alfetta sedan exhaust parts

My 1978 Alfetta Sedan is now running well and needs to replace the horribly crafted piping and glass packs with a real exhaust system. Is anyone still sell any components, especially the half shaft hump and rear resonator?

My current sysytem looks like something a guy at Pep Boys came up with!
It even has a rattling universal cat convertor!

Any leads appreciated.

Your best bet is to head to a local muffler shop that will craft one for you. I have possibly the last factory exhaust system for these cars in it's original box in my garage; found to on ebay a few years ago. I've hesitated putting it on my car though because the factory ones just rust within about ten minutes.

A good custom muffler shop should be able to fix you right up. Remember the factory exhaust has a dual tip that came out of the center of the car. I wish I had a decent pic of the factory set-up. I'll try to see of I have anything at home I can post.

Alfetta Exhaust

Craig;
I actually have the upturned dual tip...the only REAL part I have...it's the rest of the system that blows. Any ideas on a small center muffler for a muffler man to use? The generic ones I see are a wee bit too big in body size.

I will say, over the years, cold zinc spray helped prolong some of my Fiat and Alfa exhaust pieces.

I'm not too sure about the center muffler. Last year I had my system replaced and I'm not too sure what they used, they just put it up on a lift and replaced they system from the cat back. I simply asked them to replace the bits with some quiet resonators, as I wasn't looking to make the car any louder than it already was.

My car is in storage and I'm planning to pull it out tomorrow so I'll take a closer look to see if I can see anything specific on the center part for you. If I see anything specific I'll let you know.

There is a company called Conti in the Chicago area. They have OE exhaust sytems for Alfas. I can't put my hands on their contact info, at the moment. If you can't find them, pester me and I'll look them up.

I bet EB Spares has the exhaust you want. They carry CSC.

Give them an e-mail and they are good about answering you.

If you do have a system fabricated be sure to request flanged joints, not the standard slip joints. It makes exhaust removal a gazzillion times easier for acccessing clutch/guibos etc etc.

Buy quality mufflers/resonators too. Alfettas are notoriously sensitive with exhausts and positioning a muffler an inch fore/aft can make a large difference to exhaust drone and vibes.
