alfetta torsion bar replacement

Hi all,

I would refer to my manual, but it's at the garage and I'm at work... how do you guys normally go about removing the torsion bars (to replace with GTV6 bars)? Can this be done with normal tools? Or do you need the special factory tool to do it?

If there's a thread that covers this, please point me that way - I couldn't find anything here.

Thanks!

torsion bar swapping

I believe that it can be done with regular tools. I have never done it in the car but have disassembled several transaxle cars. I have always been able to get it all apart with regular tools and a lead mallet.

I did try to take some bars out of a GTV6 parts car while up on a lift using the factory tool for pushing the bars out of the rear mount. I was not successful there.

there is some info here:

tortion barAdjustment!!

and here:
Alfa Romeo Suspension - technical article on changing front torsion bars, rear coil springs amd other suspension related items.

Good Luck,

Wayne
