Clutch..........help

I replaced the old clutch in my gtv6 with an excellent condition used one, as the old one lost its throwout bearing. After replacing clutch and flex disc, I put it all back together and proceded to try and bleed the slave (which is also new). I pressed the slave piston in with an open valve to get it into the clutch fork, and then bleed as normal.

Here is the problem..........air is bleed out, screw is tightened with clutch depressed. The pedal, then becomes so stiff that it cannot be depressed. The piston in the slave will not actuate the clutch. I am baffled and frustrated.

The only thing i can think of is that I installed the clutch fork incorrectly, but it is flush to the pivot, and canted forward. This is the last thing (crossing fingers) for me to get back on the road.

Thanks

When i installed the slave the last time, I didn't need to have the bleed screw open to compress the plunger. Compressing it isn't very easy but should be possible, I would make sure that you can compress the slave cylinder and that it then wants to push back out. Next make sure that your pivot ball is in ok condition and that the pivot fork is not hitting the front side (towards front of car) of the trans case. The final thing i'd do if all these work is to make sure the clutch master cylinder works by open the bleed screw and make sure you squirt fluid.

no the bleed screw of the slave, to make sure that when you press the pedal you are getting actual pressure at the slave
