Trans swap trouble

Hi,
I have been trying to install the trans from my milano into my gtv6. I first removed the trans from the milano then removed the trans cover and swapped the input gear selector shaft to get rid of the iso-static. After reassembling the trans and putting it into the car it appears that the trans is in 5th gear while the selector shaft is located in the selector area of 1st through 4th. I am going to try and remove the reverse light switch from the trans and see if i can pop up the 5th/reverse selector shaft out of 5th gear. I'm guessing that when putting on the top of the trans case that it pushed the shaft into 5th gear.
Bob

open it up via the reverse light switch and use a somewhat sharp punch to pry the rod back and you should have no problem pushing the shaft back into neutral......it actualy moves VERY easy

i made the same dumb mistake and had no problem doing it this way

yes this worked surprisingly easy. I also pulled on the gear shift lever while i was doing this to ensure that it didn't go past 5th and in to reverse.
