Well, there is that Youtube drag race video somewhere, you can definitely hear the side outs on that video! Type "Supercharged Alfa" or something like that into Youtube to find it.

I really liked that side exiting system. It was optimal for power as far as catback systems go. It was light, made servicing easy, and kept heat off the rear brakes. However I only had 10 sets made and they are all gone. It was actually a time consuming system to make because the bends had to be very precise to maximize ground clearance, yet not rub on the body.

Well steve11, you started this thread - why not post your "before" clip with the Ansa. Do you have full Ansa, cat back, or just the rear can?

I just have the ansa rear can. I have two 85 GTV6's and the one with the ansa is the way better car but does not sound nearly as well as the junker car. The junker has some cheap old single exit exhaust but sounds awesome. Do you really think a straight pipe out the back will be super loud? I took a video clip of the ansa but dont know how to post it.

Thanks, Steve

is there any downside to replacing the twin cats to just a single one?

Try uploading the file like a pic. If that doesn't work, upload to YouTube and post the link to it.

f50, usually, folks are replacing their single (dual-in/dual-out) cat for the dual cats. The problem is that you now are splitting the exhaust pulses (and heat) in half. Not an issue if the cats are where the down-pipes are, but when placed too far back they'll take a while to heat up to optimal. Two cats may weigh more, cost more to purchase, as well as install.

And if they don't get along, they might fight or pee all over the house. There's the additional food and vet bills to consider also. I'd think about it pretty seriously before getting two cats.

that was pretty lame I know....

My exhaust is getting a good re working right now thanks to some cracks. I was given a header (not sure of make) and my brother is fabricating the rest. It will be header to single muffler (probably flowmaster) only. I will try to get some sound clips up as well as an spl reading once it's all done. Probably be a couple weeks yet.
