Alfetta gt tire sizes

Hi everyone,
i have team dynamics rims on my 79 gtv 17x7. the tire size on the car is 215/40-17. im in need of new tires soon so i was wondering if i can put 205/45-17 or 205/50-17. the front is lowered a bit rs suspension. i just wanted if i can add some side wall so i can cruise more comfy on these nyc streets,

I used to have 215/40 17 on my GTV6 but when I went to replace them I couldn't get the right load rating (88) so had to go to 205/45 17. This is the max diameter that I could fit given the offset of my rims and had to do a little cutting of the front spoiler to prevent rubbing on turn. As yours is a gtv, you may have a bit more room, but I doubt it would be enough for 205/50.

i figured the 205/45 17 would be a cleaner fit. ill try that out. thanks for the response.
