Brakes hissing sound

Hi all brake experts out there....every time I press the brake pedal there is a hissing sound that I can hear in the driver's seat coming out of radio area but is not radio and brake pedal becomes stiff, takes a hard pedal pressing to make car stop.

I already changed the vacumm hose from booster to manifold -due to time constraints I used a high pressure rubber hose, not original type-but situation is the same.

Questions: Do I need to replace booster which costs 690.00? Is it possible that check valve may be faulty, hence hissing sound and lack of boost?

!!nCar is stopping but I guess not as well.

Need advise!!

Sounds like the booster is indeed bad. I'm sure that you can find a used one. I'll look through my junk if you don't find one.

Well today I ordered a used one from Mattews, eBay. Figured that for 78 plus shipping I could take risk Will let you all guys now how it turns out.
I've noticed there are many ATE boosters on the market at prices that are much better that the ATE booster for the GTV6.
Guess is a question of fixing attachment to pedal bar which should not be a big deal. Nex time.
