Remember that the Alfetta and early GTV/6 use the longer length bars are softer than the short bars for the late GTV/6 and Milano if diameters are unchanged.

Just for interest sake, on my 1976 GT, which appears to be completely original, it has 19mm torsion bars! My 1979 GTV has 22mm torsion bars (but can't comment on originality. I live in AUS so perhaps we got different rate bars?....

25.4 mm torsion bars! The previous owner definitely time trialed this car, huh? This thing is set up with all kinds of goodies.

Anyhow, thanks again for introducing me into the world of Alfettas!
You're welcome Grant! The original owner had buckets of money (his other car was an Aston Martin) - and was definitely fast and loose with his wallet when putting together the car. I assume he autocrossed the car, but I don't know for sure.
Anyhow - you should defintely lower it back to how I originally got it, and spend your money on some good tires. It should impress you as-is. People on the first Melee thought the car was supercharged or something, because I was able to keep up with V8 powered cars 95% of the time due to it having phenominal grip in the twisties. I was never able to take it on a track, since I couldn't fit inside while wearing a helmet!
The only drawback to lowering it is it'll scrape on speedbumps/driveways & you have to be very mindful of the foglamps and front spoiler - you have to hit driveways at an angle and very slowly!

yep, you'll also find that the 1.8 gt should have an 18mm front sway bar and the 2.0 gtv a 20mm sway bar.

the 18mm sway bar is a rare thing and works well with stiffer torsion bars (>25mm), whereas the 19mm torsion bars are not much use for anything really, toothpicks maybe.
