Lsd In An Alfetta???????

Looking for some assistance......can a limited slip differential be added to an Alfetta transaxle? What are the differences internally between the Milano 3rd member and the Alfetta?

It would be much easier to install a transaxle from a platnum milano. It is possible to convert to a non iso linkage if you use an early gtv6 box, or use the Milano box and just change the flange for the driveshaft at the clutch. A longer hose will need to be fabricated for the clutch slave. Along with better gear ratio's, it is really pretty much a bolt in. I'm not sure about the speedo hook up with the milano box............vs the alfetta mechanical speedo, but i could look at the Verde and see. Basical I used a early Gtv6 box for the non iso shift linkage, and mechanical speedo...........with everything else Milano. I believe the shaft and some of the bearing sizes may prevent lsd in a alfetta box..............I could be wrong..............I just wanted to get away from the horrible Alfetta ratios

i have to agree ..it would be MUCH easyer to just swap the box since you'd have to pull the whole box anyway

but i must admit i too have wondered if a lsd can go into a 82/83 gtv6 box

Alfetta/Plat questions

in short:

The LSD unit will not fit in any USA delivered Alfetta. Bearings for the carrier are too small in the Alfetta. (As is the R&P)

The Alfetta has better ratios than the various 6 cyl cars inc. Plat. The 2nd through 5th gears are much closer and 3rd - 5th much lower ratio.

The ISO linkage shift rod can be easily removed and swapped with a GTV6 or LATE Alfetta one. ISOSTATIC linkage is not an improvement!
The early GTV6 used the same speedometer drive as the Alfetta. Just swap the cable drive insert for the pulse generator.
