Well that could be a special metric wheel since its a TRX on it. I have enlarged it here but its impossible to read what is written on it...

TRX... you have to refresh my memory, as I have forgotten that abreviation!

Normally the GTV6 group A rallycar used on tarmac these sizes of tyres:

Front: 210/595 x 15
Rear: 235/595 x 15

The tyre is Michelin TRX as you can see on the photo. Michelin in the eighties had an experiment with wheel diameters in millimeters in stead of standard 15", 16" , 17". The Michelin metric wheels were not such a success and soon dissapeared. Specially the BMW´s that time came with Michelin metric wheels. So the wheel on this car could be metric and therefore very scarce, but I have not seen them before and cannot tell for sure.

If you look at this page you will see that the TRX tires were in mm instead of inches, like HR 340, HR 365, Hr 390 etc. So I am pretty sure that the wheel on the GTV is a special metric TRX-wheel.

Now I remember. One of my good friends drove a Samba group B car and that one had the same odd sized wheels/tyres.

In the link provided earlier: http://www.scuderiadelbiscione.com/
There is this picture showing a car that appears to have similar wheels only in chrome!
Perhaps they can shed some light on the wheels?

Thumbs up

You're right, they look like the ones, however they appear quite different in chrome... whatever, I will investigate the case.

Thanks

Concerning the wheels...

Yes they are TRX, and according to one of our fellow alfa friends from Belgium - the wheels seems to be from the french company PLS, which GEMA often used as well as many other rally and racing teams in the eighties and beginning of nineties (well, perhaps only in France).

Another friend of mine, was today in contact with mr. GEMA (Gérard Mandréa) and strange enough, he couldn't put much light on the entire topic ...strange enough!!!

Moving forward, but slowly

Hi!
The guy its me!!!

To Tour de Corse:
Hello, I read your letter.
Thanks a lot for the pictures.

No progress, I'm busy building a house.
Once he house (and the garage) is finished, I'll start the project.
Donor car is a 1984 GTV 2.0.
We will be in contact, and would be nice to build a couple of siamese twin cars!!

Best regards from Spain!

Hi!

My 'to do list' is now a bit long, but in a couple (or four) of months, I hope to start the work.

I need to finish the garage, uprate the GTV6 to 3 litre with refreshed and spiced America engine, check a water leak in the Alfetta (I suspect a failed head gasket.... oh horror!), help my codriver to restore a 75 Turbo Evoluzione (Group A racer, a championship winner!!) and some minor works....and then: THE LOUBET!!

Best regards.
