Oh - don't even get me started, I could SERIOUSLY hijack this thread with a rant about the endless BS California has been pulling lately on vintage cars.

All I'm going to say right now...wisps of smoke are already coming out of my ears!

PM me about it then. I just can't imagine a huge smog hit from vintage collector cars. Must be some serious idiots in CARB.

The problem is that the folks who are at the low end of the income scale are driving the older cars as they are cheaper to buy and are cars that can be used up. Hence they are putting out smog, therefore the state has mandated the cars be smogged. Someone screwed up a good deal when they pulled the sliding scale smog checks. Our '76 spider with the air pump only sails through smog checks as it was a 49 state car when we had both CA and 49 state cars for a while.

Heres a couple pics of my sedan from new zealand, this girl has amazingly near no rust, a couple of small spots which ill get looked at, its my DD car and ive done 25000K in the last year with no major probs, had to replace transaxle mounts, centre donut, and new rear discs and pads, i notice mine has a different rear panel, strange thing is i have a spare parts car and it has a chrome front bumper but the rear is rubber, fuel tank behind the seat (compared to the boot floor in mine) must be half a euro half us car!

Your car is looking great. I'm going to refer back to this thread anytime I think about getting rid of mine. I can't wait to do the same thing to my Sedan.

May I ask where you ended up getting the windshield rubber? (I didn't do a search, maybe you posted it in another thread?) If you think the rubber is hard to find, hopefully you don't need a windshield - as I recall, these are very hard to come by. (If anyone knows of some, let me know.)

Again, looks great - I can't wait to see interior pictures!

Had one in real time and the suspension is outstanding.

However as the suspension bushings age and deteriorate the handling at above 65 mph becomes diabolical--downright scary.

New bushings

Very nice. I would love to add one of these to my collection. Already have too many cars as it is, though.

Your car looks exactly like my first alfetta. Mines used to be silver with black momo wheels.
Manuel. Your car looks great. Alfeta motors. I remember this car from about 10 years ago. It was in the bay area for many years. The alfetta sedan has always been on of my favorite Alfa's. I have lots of love for the transaxle cars. Seeing your car brings back good memories of mine.

yeah, i'll vouch for the bad bushing/handling quirks. my sedan is in desperate need of all new bushings/ball joints. of course, they are a PITA to replace especially when you have the caster rods which are riveted to the control arms.

so at this point there's no proper suspension geometry, just lots of sloppy wheel movement. would love to feel how these cars are "supposed" to feel when cornering but, hey, if i wanted sorted out car, i'd start with the brakes!

oh, well, as long as it sounds great!

Heck... mine will easily run over 150 mph!!! Straight as an arrow!!
If a spider will do 135 mph an Alfetta will easily best it!!

please raise your hands if you have gone over 135mph in your spider

Paul
