Power Door Locks
Has anyone added power door lock actuators to their GTV6. I purchased a set and will be installing them but was wondering has anyone any experience in adding this feature?

Still haven't found the right GTV6 for me .Yet one thing I didn't know was you can add power door locks to a car that did not have any. Will they be remote or not?

Years ago I saw an aftermarket kit in an autoparts store. Did not inspect it closely, but I can't see any reason why a solenoid, or similar, can't be remotely operated to lift or lower the locking link. Also seen aftermarket power windows that I would like to fit to power my rear windows. I'm sure it could be done.

Here is what I am installing. There is an actuator that attaches to the existing rod that goes up and down. There is a remote module and now I push a button and the doors open.
Here is what they say :

POWER UP! With AutoLoc's power door lock conversion kits you can transform your manual door locks to automatic door locks in under an hour! Each kit is specifically designed and manufactured with the highest quality parts. Every kit comes with AutoLoc's limited LIFETIME WARRANTY. AutoLoc's 2 Door Central Power Door Locking System is unique because it allows you to activate your locks using your original plungers, eliminating the need to mount switches in your door or fill in the hole left by your original door plungers. When the plunger in your drivers door is depressed or raised, or your key is turned, the other door in your vehicle automatically power locks or unlocks. This is easily accomplished because of AutoLoc's exclusive 5-wire actuators with built in micro-switches, which communicate with one another to act simultaneously, resulting in prompt, professional performance and easy installation. GO KEYLESS! The CK2000 includes AutoLoc's famous KL400 Keyless Entry Unit which offers superior quality and ultra-compact design, but despite it's small size it is packed full of features. The KL400 is a 2-function unit which will lock and unlock your doors and still have four channels of output left for additional accessories such as trunk pop, windows up/down, remote start, or any future expansion you might have in mind. Features like Parking Light Outputs (2 flashes for lock, 1 flash for unlock), Code Rolling Technology, and a Starter Kill output (RA1000 relays required) ensure your vehicles security. DON'T BUY JUNK! AutoLoc's kits are top quality and back by a limited LIFETIME WARRANTY. AutoLoc's central locking kits eliminate the need to mount additional switches in your vehicle. Unlocking and locking your doors is accomplished by the original factory door plunger. This results in a factory installed look! For added convenience locking/unlocking the front doors will lock/unlock all the other doors. AutoLoc offers kits with and without remotes! Kits are available for ALL cars, vans, & trucks. Detailed instructions walk you step by step through the quick and simple installation. If not much of a reader? AutoLoc offers instructional CD-ROM videos (CDROM-DL) that insure quick and easy installation. AutoLoc also offers kits without remote (CL2000) and alarm (CA2000) for added protection and convenience. No matter what kit you choose you can't go wrong, when you go with AutoLoc!

Yes - I did this on my v-6 and have had them on it for something like 16 years - at that time I worked for an Alarm company so it was no cost. The company I worked for no longer exists but the door lock actuators were sourced from a different company anyway.
You'll have to give me some time to get a door panel off and take a photo - it was a resonably simple thing to do but thinking it out ahead of time took more time than doing it ... if you know what I mean.
The only bummer I have is that my orginal alarm hasn't been working for the past year, and I haven't figured out why - plan to take a serious look at it when I pull the interior this summer.
Oh, Yes they are remote operated. You just need to make sure you get an alarm that has the option of adding a Power Door Lock Interface to trigger the power door locks.
cheers!

GV Thanks I sourced the kit from AUTOLOC a German company and the video on there site was very clear. It seems to be very easy and not that expensive. It comes with the remote interface and 2 remotes. I can always add an alarm. I think all GTV6 owners should do this.

Yeah, I've kind of taken it for granted all these years I remember mounting the actuator inside the door and mounted with a couple of screws to the inner door panel - just can't remember if it was mounted vertical or horizontal.

Just be aware of how easy someone can break into your car with the remotes. The signal can be trapped when you activate your lock, and then used to unlock your car. It happened to me on a busy Vancouver street with my Chrysler. I left the car for 10 minutes, and when I test drove an Alfa Spider found my doors were left open. I don't mean unlocked, I mean wide open. The Alfa key is very secure.

Was taking my drivers door off to get some cracks at the base of the window frame taken care of and remembered this thread. Here's a photo of how the door lock actuators are mounted in my car. Two screws hold it in place and it's mounted virtical - the rod from the actuator connects up above to the door lock button rod. You can see the actuator in the photo with a reflection of it in the door glass.

is the rod attached to the latch itself or the lock rod that sticked out of the door panel?

Just to the lock push rod - it's pretty simple - it was just figuring out where to place it.
