I've owned an '82 Alfetta Sedan for a couple of years, its slowly getting restored as I find time...
It was my daily driver for about 6 months after I got it, until the oil dipstick came out and spewed oil all over the wiring loom. I went out to move the car one Sunday morning only to smell "something electrical" - only to find the loom had burnt itself all the way from the battery to right behind the dash, and all the way around the engine bay. Damn lucky the car didn't catch on fire. What was going to be to a simple job (yeah right) of dropping in a loom from another car, turned out I pulled so much stuff apart I decided to restore it.
Its currently in my shed with engine out, front suspension all off, and awaiting final body work preparation (rust in rear window frame, some work to do on front sills, otherwise straight). Front suspension is all dismantled and freshly powder coated and awaiting reassembly once the engine bay is painted. I've got a set of Koni reds to go on, as well as 16" 3 piece Simmons rims (with new tyres). The doors frighten me though... all 4 of 'em need fairly major work (yes, I've looked for rust free Alfetta Sedan doors, they don't exist!).
I acquired a $100 2L engine that apparently is "quite strong" - I really don't know how much truth is in that, but Dino246 is trying to convince me to drop in a twinspark motor (as per his 105 - see the engine conversions thread). I've had all kinds of ideas for engines - V6 from an Alfa 90, turbos, superchargers, blah blah blah. All too expensive, time consuming, and of little value at the end of the day. Twinspark really is the easiest conversion methinks for more power and fun factor.
Gearbox is very crunchy, but I'll be doing this bit last after all the paint work is completed, new engine is in. Apparently my 'box has an LSD, so will strip it down and take a look before I contemplate swapping it for a TS gearbox with the isostatic link.
Now I'm motivated! I'm off to clean up my shed and make some room to finish off the body work
