ah yes, the torch
The trick is to talk sweet to it while torching, and then threaten while hitting. Also, dont forget to use a little lube and or wire brush on the threads before re-installing. Good Luck!

I've also found that excessive quantities of Italian red wine helps a lot in these situations

My lubricant of choice is cursing like a really crass sailor!
Just ask Bobsiopener, I think I've even invented some new ones!

Question for the board: Bob and I have been making some progress with Phedra, but we need to rebuild the Clutch Master Cylinder.
I know its probably no big deal to do this, but we can't seem to get it off the car! We've:
- disconnected it from the pedal
- removed the clip connecting it to the spring
- disconnected the hard line
- and removed the two bolt connecting it to the pedal box.
It refuses to budge. Bob is in the mood to hit it repeatedly with anything that's handy, but I thought I'd ask if there's some trick?
Twisting? Adhesive remover? Prayer?
Thanks!

James if you've disconnected it from the pedal-arm ie: removed the cotter pin and the shaft and removed the two nuts that fasten it to the pedal box then the next step is VIOLENCE.There's shouldn't be anything else holding it on ?

Excellent Murray, you were 100% correct. Bob summoned his inner rage and ripped that sucker from its mounting point. He's going to be rebuilding it tonight/tomorrow.
It seems our brake proportioning valve is defunct. We were getting NO pressure at the rear brakes. Taking off the input to the proportioning valve revealed gyser-like flows of brake fluid. We tried cleaning out the input and output ports, but didn't make any headway. Thus we took it apart.
Having done so showed no obvious problems.....so we're a bit confused. Anyone have experience with these? Its a Benditalia part, and from an early car. I stupidly didn't take pictures of all the guts. Next time we work on the car I'll diagram the whole thing if people are interested...

An Update on our progress. The Slave Cylinder is out and I am rebuilding it. James managed to get off the rear bleed screws but then we found that the rear proportioning valve was bad and took that off. The passanger rear hub assembly is being very difficult to get out. We flattend the threads on a gear puller trying to get it off. Our setup was to put something inbetween the CV joint area and the spring mount point and then put a gear puller to push against the center part sticking through the hub and pull on the hub.

Hey Guys, the nut rust crackers of choice are "PB Blaster" or "Nut Buster" fer real. Nut Buster is unreal. I found out about it for my Biturbo as MIE (Maserati International Exchange) in Granolaville, WA sells it. It's $5 for a 4 oz bottle, but the stuff verks! Wish I'd found it a long time ago for those rusted @3!!8&7 bolts. You spray it on and let it set for a few minutes.
Good to see these projects. My '84 was in a better beginning state, but I'm redoing her. Full rebuild/upgrade the brakes, all the suspension bushings complete with many poly, Sport Springs w/Koni Sports, 3.0 ltr Verde w/164S stuff, Gotech, new badges, grilles and the hits just keep a coming. The rewards are worth the investment. My other two cars went through the same thing and you should see the results - and feel the results as well.

Awesome recommendation, brookstroutr, I wish we'd known about those products prior to wrestling with those bleed screws. Man! Those suckers were really on there!!
I think Bob is in the process of sourcing a used proportioning valve. Once we get that in and the new bleed screws, we might have a functioning rear brake.
Then we really need to figure out how to fix the rear wheel bearing......

It's kind of a hastle. You will have to use an online photo host, like photobucket.com
It might not be worth it to you, but if you want to let us see your ride, you'll have to create an account and upload the picture there, then paste the link they will give you in this forum.
You could also mail your picture to a moderator to host it for you, but we try to hastle them as little as possible.

Am I missing something? Why don't you just click "Manage Attachments" and add your pics - super simple.

Brook, you have no excuse not to post all the pics you've got! You might want to start your own thread though.
