Hey James,
It doesn't have a hood yet... I had been talking with another guy from NJ and he was supposed to meet me but never showed or called and has stopped answering emails. So now I'm talking with a guy in Maryland.
I just ordered a Bearing and a retainer. I only ordered one retainer, is there one needed for the inside and outside of the Bearing?
Since I'm going to be getting poly bushing and braided stainless brake hoses it would make sense to put them on Phedra because she needs to have them replaced anyway. I might just have to order 2x and put them on the street car too.

Bob,
Looks like there's only one Retainer per side. Figures that the right side is $25 vs the $16 of the left!
Though I would have sworn that she was missing something from both sides of what looked to be the bearing housing. Didn't you think so??
There's a person parting a GTV6 HERE, perhaps we can score a cheap master cylinder/reservoir and vacuum booster. Otherwise the master cylinder is like $80 from IAP, or we'd need to figure out the size of the cylinder to order a rebuild kit......20mm or 22mm.

Hey James,
I was thinking that we could put up some plastic tarps to seperate the Phedra area from the other car and parts and put a big fan at the garage door. Then we can remove the paint and sand down the the areas of concern and apply a coat of primer to seal it. If there is time between part deliverys this could be a good time filler.

Bob,
That sounds like a decent plan. I agree with you that the body work will be a good gap-filler. I don't know everything were doing to need, but I think we might need a pneumatic grinder to cut away some of that stuff. I also think that there are special hammers and metal hockey-puck things we'd need to reshape the body....
You know what you want to do concerning the Master Cylinder? I think if we aggresively pursue the required parts, that we might be able to get the thing rolling and stopping over the Holiday. That would be exciting!!

Excellent! Really neat that you're the original owner. It looks really very rust free, did you use it in the winter or was it stored?
Is that another GTV6 hiding in the garage?? A parts car perhaps? Another project?
You should start a thread and document the progress the way Bobsiopener and AR4ME have done!

Hi,
James and I just finished some work on Phedra and his car. With the right tools its amazing how fast you can get some stuff done. We picked up a new/used master Cylinder yesterday and replaced the very crudy old one on phedra. We visual inspected the booster and it looked good. We then replaced the cracked rubber brake lines with braided steal lines. This was very difficult because we couldn't get our wrench around the lower fixed line coupler, so we had to take off the front brake caliper. The front brake caliper took alot of prying to get off because there was a lip on the outter rim of the rotor. Next we took off the 36mm nut on the back passanger rear wheel but didn't do any more with that. After this was all done we swapped James's stock rear exaust with an Ansa. With much pressure from the wifes We did the removal and replacment in a speedy 20 minutes. James took some pictures on his camera so hopefully he'll post them soon.

Anyone know how I can post multiple pics per post, while interlacing my witty text? I'm pulling them from my HDD and I know that I can post multiples, I just don't know how to seperate them with text....
Anywho....here's the driver's side Braided SS Brake line.....note we're missing the little bracket that holds the line in place, PM bob or myself if anyone has one at bargain prices.

The passenger side brake line looks the same, but acually has the bracket, I figure we can skip this picture for the sake of brevity.
Now here's a shot of Bob wrangling with the rear soft brake line. We managed to get this one done, but it was a bit difficult. I neglected to get shots of the finished product. We should get more done tomorrow, and hopefully I'll be able to get some photos of the progress!

Hi All,
James and I removed the the condenser and AC, The AC is pretty heavy. We then discoverd that the clutch master cylinder is bad and we will be rebuilding it. We were able to bleed the front brakes and now have stopping power at the front. However in the back the bleedscrews seems to be stuck in the caliper. I put on the right size wrench (tried closed and open ended) and it was just rounding the edges. I tried WD40 and no effect. I tried putting a lock wrench on it super tight and still nothing. I only see 2 possible solutions. To replace the whole caliper, this seems rather drastic and silly to replace the entire caliper for such a tiny bleed screw. The other option I thought was to drill out the bleed screw. I would use a drill bit just smaller then the actual hole. I would love another option as neither of these make me very happy to do. Thoughts on the 2 proposed solutions and any other ideas?

Bob have you tried heat ? A shot with a torch and a solid tap on your wrench will likely break them loose.

Due to the budget nature of this project, I think we have to forgoe buying the propane torch. Bob and I will be attempting to exhale ferociously on the bleed screw, wish us luck!
