Alfetta GTV8 La bomba

Officialy made by Alfa Romeo back in 1977 for the german market (twenty examples)?Where are they now?Are they still in existance?
Do you believe that 116's floorpan and mechanical components with the V8 engine (a much better combination than Montreal'S 105 series floorpan and mechanical components with such an engine)would be a commercial success for Alfa?
Should this be Alfa's 70's supercar?

Those pictures are not from '' La Bomba '' but from the Alfetta GTV 2.6V8 build by Delta Autotechnik in Germany .
According to my information only 3 of these cars were completed by them .

The real '' La Bomba '' was a 3.0 V8 and was build by Autodelta for rally use .
Only 2 of these monsters were build and I believe that only one was completed by Autodelta .

According to my info only a few cars were built:

2 red cars at Autodelta as 3L rally cars. One of these cars was not finished until recent years. The first car was sold to Japan to a collector, the other one is some times to be seen in Zandwoort in Holland on oldtimer meetings.

Plans were to build 100 cars in Germany by the Reif company in 1977. However they went bankrupt and only 2 cars were built. 1 champagne and 1 test car which was red. The champagne was sold to Italy, while the red one is in south of Germany, person known.

One car was built here in Norway in 1983 by myself and a friend. This one was black and the later owner claims he rebuilt to 3L engine. The car had a Zender kit. The car is still in existence, but rusty according to the present owner.

One car was built by Manfred Kopp in south Germany in the nineties. He got some original Autodelta GTV8 parts which made it easyer to make this conversion. This car has champagne colour and carburettors. Very nice and I have driven it! Sunday thunder and high revs (8-9000 rpm)!

These are the cars I know of.

A comparison of Montreal and GTV8 is difficult, but the constructor of the Montreal said in an interview that an Alfetta GTV with the Montreal V8 engine would have been a dream combination! There were plans to have a short production run of the GTV8 of about 200 pcs to make a homologation basis for the rally car, but the plans were dropped because production at Alfa of the Montreal engine was dropped.

Thanks Gabor.Very interesting details.I think i spotted these two cars (the champagne and the red one)in the autodelta's site. They look like normal gt cars with v8 engines. But what about the car in the black and white photos?Looks like a factory built car.Who built it?Is this the Reif's car?
If you take a look in www.autodelta.de you will see the car in a yard full of period Alfas.Could it be in Arese? And this dashboard?Looks like a modified sud sprint's dash.

PS.Nice site!

The black and white photos you are showing here actually are sourced from me. I sent them to Manfred some years ago for him to have on his GTV8 pages. I got these pictures at the time I was working with our own project in order to be convinced that the project was possible. The photos are from an article in the magazine "Stern" in Germany. They were made in connection with the IAA in Frankfurt sept. 1977. This is the show car from the Reif company in Aachen, later it was sold to Italy. People I spoke to in the Reif company speculated that a rich guy from Brazil bought it to have it in a musem. This is unconfirmed however. I could not find it in Brasilian museums..

Thanks for that GTV 116, I know Alfas are much loved in Greece!

The theme has been discussed in Alfabb before, as I can see. I really donīt know where the number of 20 pcs GTV8 were made, I have not seen any proof of that.

I saw the older thread.Same speculations about twenty or something cars maded.Your story seems the closest to reality. From your elements i can assume your a kind of Alfa expert.

PS.I spotted a serious presence of italian car clubs in Norway.Lancisti norvegesi in www.viva lancia.com and also a Norwegian Alfa owners meeting in an older issue of Auto Italia mag.

Cheers

The expert here must be Manfred. He had so much interest in the car that he actually made a homepage about it. He also had the opportunity to look at the original GTV8 3000 before it was sold to Japan.

As Auto Italia magazine is so clever to find forgotten supercars, like the Turbodelta Gr.4 car, I suggested to them that they do a major article on the story of the GTV8 in issue 111 p.8. However off the record they declined as it would be so expensive to trace the cars...

The interest for italian cars in Norway is great, and every year in august there is a trackside gathering with all the Italian marques, even motorbikes. We call it "Italiensk Dag"(Italian Day). Much fun!

Note that this is an Alfetta GT body so it must have been the first one build by Autodelta .
The second one is an Alfetta GTV with partly alloy body .
I think I've got some pictures of the car during restauration ........... somewhere ?
Car was brought from Italy to the Netherlands by Ciapponi and Van Der Sluis and is now in the hands of Suaerbier .
