GTV6SA: Cantīt agree there at all. Fiat had no influence on Autodelta policy at the time of the GTV8. The reason the GTV8 was not raced is that they did not build the 400 pcs necessary for homologation. The reason for this was that production of the Montreal engine was ended at the time they would start building the GTV8.
The GTV8 engine was not at Tipo 33 engine, but a 3L Montreal engine modified from boat racing. This engine had flat crank, injection and about 340Hp at around 8500 rpm. This rpm is still OK for the transaxle

I seriously have my doubths if that was the reason to stop with the GT V8 rally project .
It were mainly budgetary reasons and the 400 cars they had to make and sell for homologation in GR.4 .
If there was a conversation between the head of Fiat/Lancia and Chiti and he withdraw the GT V8 from GR.4 in '77 ( I believe that was the last time it was entered in a rally by Autodelta ) why would he enter the even if not more powerfull Alfetta Turbodelta in GR.4 in '79 ?
To Vince and Gabor : thanks for the info about the brake system !

Maybe an intresting link about Evan Green :
http://members.ozemail.com.au/~groggo/evan%20green.html
@Vince : could it be that the Green / Bryson Alfetta GT was a GR.2 instead of GR.4 ?
@Gabor : great minds think alike at tesame time

Thank you to all contributors to this thread. It has been a feast for the eyes and the mind - just how I'm going to live without a V8 GTV now I don't know

Price of a normal car around here is about 25.000 USD.
Here prices in Germany:

However you dont buy a Montreal for its value, but because you want one.

The engine- well hard to say, they are very scarce. Have not seen an offer for long time. The Monti guys are buying them as reserve engines for their cars. Just a figure I would guess of 3-3500USD for an engine with the injection pump. You could put it in a 116GTV as it is with 200Hp, but a more attractive prospect would to rebuild to 3L 300Hp and EFI. Then you could double or triple the final price...
