'84 gtv6 verde tranny

so my future plans for my car are to supercharge a 3.0L engine with a lightened flywheel from performatek. I also would like to drop a verde tranny in my car and upgrade to iso static.

What's everything I need to get and/or replace on my existing car to do the isostatic and verde tranny when i call up alfa parts exchange?

i double clutch into my 2nd gear. does the iso static make a difference to those who have it already?

will cross drilling the gears on my future verde tranny make a difference?

drop some knowledge on me, thanks.

Make sure they don't take too much meat off where the prop shaft bolts in-you mean front flywheel right? If so, you'll need to balance the crank, rods, and damper pulley after you get it lightened as well. Lighten the gears particularly 2nd-see Performatek website. and I don't think there is room for the iso linkage unless it is an '86 without a big hammer-the seat well is in the way-I believe? Anybody else?

Thanks DaVinci that helps out a lot. I've had this car for years and I learn about it and cars in general by working on it when certain "gremlins" do things to my car. I'm glad to be learning from people like you. Thanks.

Well, I may be wrong, but if you have the machine shop test the "balance" of your current flywheel and determine what the (for want of the technical term) offset is, then just match that weight offset after the turning/lightening on the new one, then there is no need to do all the rest. Waste of time money and effort to go into the engine unless it is a total rebuild and you are looking for ultimate track power and life. Check with Alfar7 and I think he will confirm this approach. Also turning the rear flywheel and lightening the clutch assembly gives a greater benefit, but both are nice to do.

Greg Gordon has the turbo down pat on 3.0L-check alfagtv6.com or Silicone Hose Kits. I'm not a turbo/supercharger expert but I think turbo is what you want versus supercharging. Regardless of what happens have your rotating assembly balanced if you make any alterations on the crank axis. I've been through all this business and undone builds as a result. I actually prefer naturally aspirated 164 motors in the GTV6-that's just me. At the factory, the crank assembly was balanced as a unit that means rods and pistons matched, bob weight crank, bolt on flywheel and damper pulley and spin it for balance. Also, be sure they go to 7000 rpm. The "offset" referred to above is actually on the damper pulley and not the flywheel.

Silicone Hose Kits

the above is Greg Gordons site....you may have already been there. He likes SUPERchargers (engine driven) over turbos, but both have been used with sucess on these engines.

Talk to Larry Jr. at APE. He knows how the cars are put together and has raced a GTV6 or two. He seems to be of the Keep It Simple Stupid school of thought. Larrry Sr. doesn't seem to be into the modifying ...at least not on the 6 cylinder cars.

hth,
