It only really applies if you find multiple washers under nut or bolt heads not just one under each end of that bolt and nut. It makes a real difference on a middle yoke that is splined if you remove yoke from spline or on front spline and pinch bolt at engine flywheel.
I just mark both splined pieces with center punch and paint just to be sure.
I learned my lesson hard way on a Fiat 131 2-piece driveshaft years ago by not marking spline and yoke. What a nightmare to go back and rotate the yoke a spline at a time until vibration went away.
