Lightbulb What needs lubricating?

82 gtv6 parked for several years. Any tips on what parts i should lubricate.. Are there gear boxes or drive shaft parts that need greasing? I am geting a rattle noise it sounds like from the drive shaft/ rear transmission area..

Thanks for any help! I want to make sure I get my car up to great running condition and dont want anything to get damaged.

maybe the exhaust system

I'm not at all mechanical... but my '86 GTV6 has what sounds like a very similar rattle from the same area. My first inclination was to blame the driveshaft... ie., out of balance. What it turned out to be was a rough idle which transmitted a vibration through the drive shaft and caused the muffler/exhaust to rattle agains something at the rear of the car. Idle was smoothed out and no more rattle. FWIW.

Check the exhaust where it goes up and over the rear brakes - not a lot of clearance there and if it's not properly secured - it can make all sorts of annoying sounds.

You both are exactly right it was poor idle vibrations.. causing the exhaust to vibrate at the floor of the vehicle..

Thanks for all your help!!
