Almost there, the story of a killer GTV6

Getting very close on finishing this GTV6. I have been my own worst enemy on this, never happy with a paint job, but I went several extra miles on this one.
It started out as a sale to a BB member, but he bailed when I couldn't finish it in time, so now I have to finish it on my own dime, sell it and give him the money.
I suppose I could have just done a driver paint job and shipped it out, but I love this car too much to do that.
81, 43K miles, stored dry since early 90's.
Sad, how the nicest paint job I have done in years is the one that ruined my reputation, but I will be very proud of this car when done, and someone will get a sweet car.

Thanks Greg. It will be beautiful.
Next week I will be cleaning it and starting the interiour work.
Sweet original tan leather seats. I have to re-dye the tan carpet, want to keep the color scheme original if I can.

Thanks for the update and please continue. Very few people have the skills such as you. The number of Alfas on the road will continue to fall and with out your skills and your crew this decline would only accelerate the disappearance of such cars. It's not like they are unloading boat loads of old Alfas at the ports. There will always be those who profess a love for the marque but will bale at the first sign of trouble or inconvenience. The serpent eats them up. Then there are those who patiently wait until the work is done right and are rewarded with an open road. That car is looking like a real head turner.

Old military side of me coming out so it's not personal. Don't go down the path of "ruined my rep" and all that jazz. Makes you look weak. You had some issues, screwed the pooch or whatever. Took a real man to man up and such as you did. Move on. In my eyes you did the right thing in fessing up thus your stock has gone way up in my book. Nothing on what you asked me a few months ago yet but I do make inquires.

Ciao, chris

Thanks Chris, Shasta1.
Can't wait, tomorrow it is out in the sun for the first time in new paint. We will be doing final detail sanding and buffing.
Sunlight can be brutally honest, and I welcome it.

Glenn-- don't be so hard on yourself. Takes a man to open up about his own deeds, alright. Remember: "Illegitimus non-carborundum."

You are an Alfista among Alfisti, sir! I wish I had a tenth of your knowledge on Alfas! And if it's ok, I will continue to turn to you for advice.

Keep us posted.

I have watched this man over the years and have followed is thread comments in detail. what happened to the car in the past does not take anything away from the quality and honesty of the man nor any cars he has or may complete in the future. I do not think others will be hard on the man; it is just his makeup to bring out areas he considers mistakes. I would always buy cars from him especially the GTVs; he is willing to travel to various cars throughout the States (probably Canada, too) to inspect the different cars he has purchased (not purchased) over the years. Over my years with Alfa, he has provided great information without any consideration to money. I have purchased parts from him and they have been excellent; the communication also excellent along with the information.

It is just part of him and his makeup. I wish everyone was like Heavy Metal.

My thoughts,
Steve Hurt

HMA, Car looks great and I agree with the other members...you are a HUGE ASSET to the Alfa community. You keep Alfas alive when others would have long given up.

Good luck with sale! It will be a treasure for its new owner!
