what color is this?

sorry for the ignorance but I am a Milano and "classic" GTV guy who got the GTV6 virus (and getting worse...)

can somebody tell me what color this is? is it original? I know it's burgundy but what's the official Alfa name?
I think it looks great on a GTV.

anybody knows if this color also came with the dark brown/black cloth recaro interior?

thx for your help

It's chestnut metallic, I don't know the paint code, but it's a rather nice/rare colour of the GTV6.

Cheers, Nick

thanks Nick,

I heard of Chestnut metallic before but thought it was rather brown than burgundy.

now, should I sell my beloved Milano and buy a GTV 6 or just add a GTV6 to my existing Alfas..????

decisions, decisions.......

The car looks to be an '84 based on the dark gray counter-color along the bottom of the body (an '84-only feature). In that case the color is AR847, Very Dark Chestnut (PPG 25443).

Go to Suppliers List thread:

http://www.alfabb.com/bb/forums/guests-new-members-introductions-please-read/4361-supplier-list.html

and click the links under Paint Cross References and Touch-up Paint and Custom Cans for details.

This looks indetnitcal to my 84 GTV6, which I am presently in the process of having repainted. I thought the color was AR545 Chestnut/Red Metallic. Does anyone know the color code for the dark gray counter-color?

Thanks

According to this page AR545 was not a color used in 1984:

http://autocolorlibrary.com/cgi-bin/...romeo-pg02.jpg

However, according to this page it was(!):

http://www.glasurit.com/COLOR/COLOR-Search/index.html

This may indicate differences in US and European vehicles.

I guess the only way to tell for sure is to e-mail Alfa and give them your chassis number:

http://www.alfabb.com/bb/forums/alfa-romeo-topics-not-covered-elsewhere/27193-date-manufacture.html

Also, the dark gray contrasting paint remains a mystery there are several possibilities but I have yet to find a definitive answer.

Thanks Maldi.

I probably have the incorrect code. I took the code from a factory touch up kit that came with the car back in 84. Perhaps this is a part code, not a paint code.

Thanks again.

Eurospec GTV6 was offered only in these colors:
Rosso Alfa
Grigio chiaro metalizzato
Grigio nube metallizzato
Nero
Nero metallizzato

I am afraid that the "archivio storico Alfa Romeo" has no feedback for 116 series.

I recognize those photos

Thats the car I sold on ebay this spring. I would ask the owner the color code for you if he wasnt such a dumb ***. I sold him the car and he screwed up the title and cant get it registered because he is too anal for his own good. On another note I also liked the color it goes great with the tan interior. If anyone wants the original wheels off that car let me know. JJ

I assume you have looked under the rear hatch lid, on the right side, to find the paint code decal...

Edit: Ooops, I thought it was yours-- forget the paint code decal idea...

JJ - sorry for having used your car pics for starting this thread - I couldn't remember where I stole them from - all I remembered was that I SHOULD have bought your car because I have since been infected with the chesnutt-colored-GTV6-Virus !!!!

No appologies

Not a prob. What we should all be doing is figuring out a way to buy this car.

And after that someone needs to buy my fiat. I cant get the F out of Texas until that happens. JJ

It's called Chestnut Red-Metallic

It's the same color I had on my 1984 gtv6...bought in Miami...beautiful color, very rare, and very different. The photos don't do it justice. The color is very deep, with multiple layers of clear coat, and if you stand right up to it, you feel as if you are falling into the rabbit hole. I kept an MG Mitten cover on it, and eventually the cover/heat caused the paint on the sun roof to discolor...other than that the color held up beautifully both in the South Florida sun, and later in the cold and snow of Maine...sold the car in December 1987...wonder what happened to it.
