Since I saw this auction I started to wonder as well.
New Factory Alfa Romeo V6 Busso Engine 2 5 Alfa 6 GTV6 Milano GTV 6 | eBay

But I've got 3.0 V6 12V from 75 and it has got more power than the 2.5.

The Alfa Sei engine is quite similar to the GTV6 engine.

You would need to use GTV6 sump and oilpick up pipe, GTV6 flywheel, GTV6 motormounts, GTV6 exhaust manifolds, GTV6 starter and maybe some of the mounts for alternator/ aircopump.

Not a very hard swap of you have a GTV6 and a Sei engine.

If you use the carbed Sei engine you would need to swap the injection pump for a pump that's suitable for carbs, the injection pump has way to much pressure. Wiring would need some alterations aswell offcourse.

I think those carb mounts on heads unless they are bolted to heads would cause you a problem using L-jetronic inlet tubes. Looks like part of head casting to me.

This IS the original Busso design! I believe it made slightly more power than the L-Jet, but to swap a 2.5 for a 2.5 dosn't really make much sense. Even a 2.5 4-valve doesn't make a lot of sense.

The whole reason for the switch to L-jet was the problematic carbs - six of 'em!! And yes, the heads have the "manifolds" built-in. It almost certainly has the old multi-piece headgaskets too.

Take a look at the intake though. Much straighter shot than the L-Jet.

Though I imagine in the hands of someone with the right fabricating skills, a custom aluminum plenum could be made for an EFI retrofit.

Wow! What a time warp....if that was in my country i would grab it if it was attainable for a good price, i love EFI but i would love to throw a Alfa Romeo 6 carburettor engine in a GTV6, 90 or 75 with the carburettors just for fun for the sound, V6 triple carburettor, that would be fun to tune

I find this blog Le site de l'Alfa Sei (Alfa Romeo Alfa 6) to be interesting in the extreme not just on Alfa 6/Sei matters, but also on the Busso V6.

He states somewhere that the main reason for the FRPA Dellortos to go out of tune is thermal expansion of the sync-control rods etc. Very interesting point, probably valid.

Of course what this thread needs is someone to talk at length again on the South African GTV6 with 3.0 engines (not quite the one we know) and Sei carbs and heads...

This is my site...

Yes, when heads are heating, they have thermal expansion, not at
the same speed for the links between each barrel.

So, idle tuning will not be always the same. Good in cold conditions
or good in hot conditions, but never good for both conditions...

Alfa tried to solve using aluminium links between each lever. Not enough!

The solution is to let a little gap between each
lever and the main aluminium rod (1 rod for 3 levers).

So no problem now with all my V6 with carbs...

I'm in the way to alterate a 24V engine to IDF 48 carbs.
Adding too ignition regulator on the front of engine, like Ferrari Dino V6.

I will do same job on a 3 liter Milano V6, with IDF 44 carbs.

Coming soon !!!

If you decide to do that conversion, and are in need of the extra GTV6 bits described above... I should be able to supply most of those details. (flywheel, motor mounts, sump, etc.).
