Racingswim's 1986 gtv6

Well, had my arm twisted by Racingswim to add this little beauty to my mini collection.

Was offered on this board a few months ago. Seller was really helpful and she arrived two nights ago.

Original one family/owner. really kept up until last 8 years where she was covered up.

Of course very dirty and smelled like a mushroom farm inside. On the good side, only one broken part, driver's door handle. two mice families. One in boot and one under hood in usual spot. Hood family really liked to eat the cotton hose wrap but only chewed two wires (that I could find)

looks like something died on the little shelf above rear seat, but nothing major. I found a receipt in the car from 2003 for some food..likely the last trip out....

And WOW..the owner saved the original 'Alfa Driving Experience' casette tape!! All the manuals in mint condition.

The price was very fair due to the amount of work needed.

Has a repaint which is not quite accurate in the right sunlight, but overall, a few polishes and she will shine. Sunroof with GOOD handle and surround!

Leather dry but still flexible.

enjoy the before and after cleaning pics

Congrats! I just got my '86 last year and I love it, even more now that I dropped a 3.0 into it!

Now I just have to get the Super I just bought from Utah to here...

I was pretty depressed earlier today due to Alfetta not running well...

so worked on the new one some more....

polished up with meguires diamond cut followed by swirl free polish followed by color retorer/wax. used my drill and medium sized pads for application of first two, then hand for third coat. Hood took about 10 diamond polishes before looking good. the cover left a microscopic grid pattern in certain areas..

Used some leather honey...they call it honey because it is as thick as honey and takes forever to apply...rear seat leather still soft for the most part. carpets excellent.

unfortunately..original radio missing..but replaced with late eighties tape player so it is age correct...

all manuals in glove box! NICE!

Overall, really taken care of except for last seven yrs or so...

Pics

Polished hood
polished roof
Passenger side extra AC stuff
Third brake light..real cool!

Wow,, very nice.
In trade for a lifetimes supply of used GTV6 parts for That car,, would you come to Heavy Metal Alfa and detail just 3 cars to that level??
I would consider that a fair trade.

WOW HMA! That is a good offer! but then I would get a lifetime of nagging from the wife too!

I lived in Maine many years ago...Oquossoc/Rangely..many moose and frost heaves...

100$ of polish, clean lint free rags, and some elbow time... and of course a good specimen...........But here is another deal: If you host a week(few days) long Alfa (Woodstock type) retreat next summer(bring your own tent) I will polish ONE (1) dirty old alfa for you!

Thanks nicke. I owe the real discovery/credit to Racingswim....and the good shape to prior owner.

PS. HeavyMetal, in your stash, do you have any drivers side door handles?

I think both of us need one...

Cheers, Nick

That's what I thought... I have located from different sources pass side handles, but no luck on the drivers side...

No rush, I had it welded... Looks bad but works...

Sorry for the hi-jack.

Cheers, Nick

Nice car Xray. I hope you get many trouble free Alfa miles out of her. Hey nicke, I should have a few exterior handles from an Alfetta GTV. Should be the same.
