That's usually a sign of a bandwidth limitation between your device and the server, either for technical reasons (capacity and/or congestion along the path, such as too many users on the same WiFi channel frequency) or contractual reasons (GB limit of your subscription plan: almost all wireless carriers and cable companies clamp down bandwidth when an allocated monthly limit is reached).

You may need to switch from a 2G or dial-up connection to something quicker.

Nope, it's happening to me as well. It's a bug.

The "Your Notifications" link at the top is also busted: it now just goes to the User CP page rather than showing a list of notifications.

OK, here are some hints for Tech Support: It appears the problem is with the responsive design. I can force the issue in my Chrome browser (on Win 10) by switching to "Responsive" in the Inspect mode (via Ctrl-Shift-i) and reloading the page, which rewrites the URL and pictures are not shown. The difference in the URL is most noticeable by the changed character sequence starting with "/#/" after the subforum title. Those users having problems may want to let Tech Support know which type of URL they see (with or without the "#").

Below are a couple of screenshots from post #2 of the superb "Vin's S4 Transmission Rebuild for Dummies" thread (obviously, those users having problems not seeing pictures won't see the screenshots, and the first URL will be rewritten as the second one):

This URL shows pictures:
Code:
http://www.alfabb.com/bb/forums/spider-105-115-series-1966-1994/573833-vins-s4-transmission-rebuild-dummies.html
Name: 2017-04-14 AlfaBB 1.jpg
Views: 172
Size: 75.1 KB

This URL doesn't show pictures (note also how the URL inside the post gets shown differently):

I purchased a donut compression tool from Alfa Romeo forty years ago. I have found out that donuts installed on transmissions never need to be compressed during removal. The only time you need to compress the donut is after you remove the steel strap and have to remove the donut. I do not think that I ever used my donut tool.

Ahem. This thread is about an AlfaBB problem where some users experience pictures not showing up. You may want to post your opinion about the donut tool in the thread I used to illustrate the problem.

Ruedi,

It's interesting you mentioned Chrome. I read the BB on an iPad and use the native Safari browser. That's where I've recently had the avatar and attached picture problems. After reading your post, I tried reading on Chrome and everything functions fine. So I guess the short answer is just use Chrome. Is the Safari angle worth looking into?

Yes, for Tech Support, this matters. Browser name and version are supplied to the server with every HTTP/HTTPS request. The server prepares the response accordingly. Since Safari is often used on small screens, most likely responsive design rules are invoked -- which seems to be where the problem occurs.
