This thread is beginning to sound like a "Home Imrpovement" episode. However, since you brought it up . . . When I was a kid I had a new, all black, Cushman Eagle scooter---the only one in town. My dad cut the head and matched the ports. With me on it it would run a solid 75mph. So, there.

But to get things back on track: 2600's are wonderful, ornate, old cars which are lovely to look at. They are just, IMHO, poor candidates for racers. I always thought they were a great engine in need of a great chasis. What a car that would have been.

2600 sprints did reasonably well in their class as racers back in the day. About 15 years ago, a 2600 sprint beat a Ferrari 250SWB in it's class in the Italian historic championships. Yes, they are VERY nose heavy, but can be made to handle reasonably well..
