Well if they're too busy at Santo's to post it...

...I will.

In-car footage from a GTV, chasing my Sprite and a few other Alfas at last week's VARA race at Fontana. This is the combined B-Sedan / D Production / E Production race.

Act 1:

Act 2:

Well... in looking at the videos it looks as though the guy in the Sprite is spraying the windshield of the following Alfa with oil. This would make it unsafe to pass in such a situation.
Paul

Ok....nice footage.

I did not get to pull up V. 2

But what the heck is in a DP Sprite to pull a Alfa like that/.....
I am Glad there where no Sprites like that back in the day.
Thats one fine runner you got there. Great work.

Gotta remember a Sprite is half the weight of a GTV and has half the power which makes their power to weight ratio very close. So, that along with a damn good driver, like the one in the video and you got a winner.

Back in the Day When I Raced!

Sprites were either in G or H production (SCCA classes) and Alfa Spiders were in E Production. (GTV's were in B sedan). But great footage of your race.

1275 Sprites were/are FP in SCCA.

VARA's production classes are close to, but don't exactly align, with SCCA classes.

When I was a kid (mid-70's), my Dad raced a Giulietta in SCCA. At that time, the 1300 Solex was GP, 1300 Weber was FP, 1600 Solex was FP, 1600 Weber was EP, 1750 was EP and 2000 was DP. Of course GTA's were C-Sedan and 1750/2000 GTV's were B-Sedan. Sprites were HP with the 948, GP with the 1100 and FP with the 1275. Those were fun times!

Just curious, what puts a Sprite in DP in VARA? Does your car have a 1500?

I'm also curious if there are any tricks to compressing video for YouTube? I have a lot of in-car footage on digital tape. But when I transfer it to my PC, the file sizes are huge. Anyone out there feel like giving me a tutorial?

Erik

I am with Genericwood. here is a Photo of My ring car back in the day.. GP solex
also ?s on DP in VARA and 1500 cc.
I also am curious about posting Video of the 1st start up of the ring car after 3 decads + of setting.
I remeber Anthony posted a 1st start up of a car that was sleeping for years.
Photos are one from back in the day . and how she is now. 100% the same down to the last bolt and spring rates. Only the intake was changed.

1500 engines are not legal in VARA, because they are post 1972.

1275 Spridgets are in EP, with a .060 overbore limit. My car is bored larger than .060, so it runs in DP.
