Do you see how far over the Alfa gets to avoid the Opel? He probably doesn't want some moron crashing into a test car.

Shifting sounds pretty slow for a Semi-auto.

I know I'll piss some people off here, but what is the story with the 8C and Alfa Romeo? Not much seems to be coming out of Alfa that is actually by Alfa.
Maserati engine and transmission, but what about the chassis? Is it or isn't it an Alfa chassis?
I won't mention the GM V6........ even with Alfa heads.

Welcome to the modern economy and the concept of branding. Jaguars are really Fords, Saabs are Opels, Lamborghini are Audis which are VWs, most of our local beer brands are brewed at the same brewery. Image is eveything - substance is less important. 'Alfa Romeo' has been a Fiat Group brand on a Fiat Group pruduct (like Lancia, Autobianchi, Maserati and to a lesser degree Ferrari) for a long time. Nothing unique in that... :-)
'Alfa Romeo' is an emotion, an idea, a reminicent of the past - executed by an industrial group. Like most other brands.

You're very correct. Econmies of scale and product lines parts universality rule the roost, gotta do it this way to maintain and boost the bottom line. Plenty of room for individuality still. I'd welcome the chance to drive an 8c, a no holds barred beast. , Alfa engine or not. It SOUNDS like an Alfa. The old Alfa Romeo struggled under State ownership and lost money, fell way behind on assembly quality, reliability, even contemporaneity of car lineage. They had to change and come into the fold, which is where they are today. Just wish the'd give some of us purists more RWD ASAP, TYVM.
