This is, I believe, a Giulietta manifold. The Giulia used a screw in thermostat and the bell-crank hanger was bolted on with 2, 6mm bolts. The 101 1300 used an in-line thermostat with a stud mount for the bell-crank. A nice Giulietta 1300 manifold, I believe.

giulia spider veloce intake manifold
hello Gordon,
thanks for the comment. i do not doubt your judgement.
i have attached a picture where it is mounted on my giulia spider veloce engine. can it be placed on that engine? else that parts must have been changed.
i hope to hear from you.
thanks,
john

Yes. It works perfectly on a 1600 if ports are matched. We did this with the later small port 1600 (105) heads as this manifold worked well for special porting on race engines. The manifold is an excellent manifold, and would be neat on a 105 1300 in a Giulietta spider, as the 105 1300 is a more robust engine than the earlier 101.
MANY years ago we used this manifold on 750 Veloces, using it and 40DCOE2's to replace the complex 750 Veloce manifold and DCO3's.
Your manifold has many applications!

John and Gordon
Hi John,
For clarity. The photo shows 4 manifolds for DCOE 2. The one on the right is a 1600 Veloce, the three on the left are some version of the 1300. The differences may not be clear in the photo but each is a different casting. Yes it fits your 1300 SS, Giulietta Veloce, SZ and so on. Two of these there have the often spoken of "Z" cast into the manifold, which of course does not mean Zagato. Also notice, (if you can see it) one of these has a boss and thread for what appears to be a vacuum fitting for a brake booster (goes into the rear port like a 105). I have no idea which car this could have been from since Giulietta's didn't have boosters and 105 Giulia's (once they added boosters) didn't have this kind of manifold. Another Alfa mystery.

Thanks Dan. A great collection. Here is a wild guess. The vacuum fitting on the far left is for vacuum operated windshield wiper motor on one of the closed Veloce cars. I'll have to dig into my oldest part books to see if there ever was such a thing.
BTW I just repaired a 1600 Veloce manifold with a broken thermostat thread. Of the several ways to do this, I chose easy and turned a piece of aluminum tube to the dimensions of the old end, threaded it internally on my lathe. Cut off the old neck, and welded my new one on. Finished by removing the external weld with a die grinder, and coarse media blast. Looks like new.

Veloce manifold
Gordon, great guess. I don't remember ever having a vacuum wiper on an Alfa but it's the best explanation so far. It reminds me of my beach car when I was a kid (I had the 1600 Veloce as well), it was a Ford Falcon wagon with vacuum wipers. We used to say those wipers sucked!
I think I have another 1600 Veloce manifold but good tip on repair.
Thanks, D

Gardenia white
John,
Go to tcpglobal.com - go to color charts and put in Alfa 1965. There is a code for Gardenia White. I will try and link the page.
