Alfa badge artist from Venice?

This was taken in Venice (Italy). Stone plate above the doorway of a 12th century house

Heart shape grille
Reath circle
Could almost be serpents

Ring any bells

It was taken from the crest of a Milanese family. Google it. There are tons of write ups on where the Alfa badge came from.

True enough. I'd be curious to know where the "heart" came from. The badge is well known but I never have seen anything on the grill shape. Research time!

alfa badge

It's not a heart. I was originally part of the Sforza Family emblem representing the city state of Milano the "badge" actually being the "Scudo" or shield which was part of the crest. The cross ( a symbol of Christianity), goes as far back as the Crusades. See? Italians were trying for a strong presence in the Arab World way before there was a Fiat Group.

Okay sticking with the 'heart' (as we all know the story of the badge or can find it with a quick search), do we have a picture of the Sforza family emblem?
