If this is the case, I can see it being 2 different bodies on the same chassis. The car at the top of post 11 is a TZ prototype.
Yes, all pictures show the same car (except for the TZ prototype in post 11):
Posts 4, 8 and 11 show AR 856001 in Oct/Nov 1962.
Posts 1, and 2 show AR 856001 in Feb/Mar 1963.
Post 6 shows AR 856001 as it exists today.

I wish somebody could find and post pictures of the car on the show floor in Geneva. It appears the car did not get much media attention then.

I can contribute the following pictures/drawings.
The first one is from the Italian magazine Autorama (November 1962) the second one from Quattroruote (Dicember 1962)

For me it has always been the second version of an Alfa is less attractive than the first. I like the first version of the 2600SZ better (the blue car). The eyebrows giulietta sprint is better looking than the eggcrate grille version. The 1900 Touring Series 1 and 2 Touring 1900 sprint is better looking than the Series 3 5-window coupe with larger rear window and smaller rear side pillars, and the TZ is better looking to me than the TZ2.

Here are 6 more photos of the 2600 Zagato and the Alfa TZ from Turin 1962. The 2600 Zagato was NOT at Geneva in 1962..

Great pictures. Thank you for digging them up. Can you tell us what the sources are (e.g. magazine/issue/page)?

You're correct in that the 2600 SZ was not shown in Geneva 1962 (Zagato delivered the car on 30-Oct-62, but Geneva is in March). At this show, the 2600 Berlina, Spider and Sprint were officially introduced, but no prototypes or design studies were shown.

I'm not sure where exactly where they are from, as they were sent to me by a friend while trying to find photos of the 1963 Geneva version of the 2600 Zagato. I would assume at least some of the are from Road and Track and others are from Car and Driver. I got rid of my personal magazine collection a long time ago, so I can't give you the information as to which issues..

Any chance your friend may have this information?

In one photo I see a Car and Driver reference. As for the color photo (the blue car), I think it must be from Road and Track, from the byline by Henry Manney III, the famous writer who spent a good deal of his career at the magazine.

I'll see, but he usually cuts up the magazines and files stuff by marque.

BTW: After being rebodied in late '62 and early '63, the car (as shown in post #1) supposedly was painted in a yellowish green, then described by some as bilious green (as in bile from the gall bladder), but I have yet to find a color picture that would confirm this information.

I'm still trying to find more and larger pictures (and hopefully in color) of the 1962 version for the 2600 SZ register.

Here are two scans of early factory photos.
Sorry for the bad quality but these originals sufferd a little bit due to their age. The former owner didn't store them well.
Hope you like them nevertheless, although they're b/w

Best regards
Ciao Carlo

Thanks, Carlo! I've seen before the picture that shows the car from the rear (published in Quattroruote Dec-62, as Geraldo mentioned above) but I was never sure wether it was a drawing or a photo.

Now, thanks to the greater detail from your scans, I'm still not sure. It may be a photo that touched up considerably before being distributed, but they may also be paintings. If they are photos, they may have been taken before the car was finished (the front and side indicator lights, the 2600_SZ badge on the hood and the Zagato badge on front fender are missing).

Both pictures show some graphical inconsitencies, such as the Alfa badge being at an impossible angle in the view from the front (as if copied from another picture), and in the view from the rear, the chrome trim below the side windows going across the door gap, which gives me the impression that these pictures may be a composite of painting, darkroom and touch up artistry.

But they are still interesting and relevant as they may be the very first press pictures Alfa made available of this car.

Off topic, but Zagato related.
Check out this incredible find that just sold recently. Appears to be legit, and will cause SZ fans like me much suffering..
