Maybe the have received requests from individuals that don't own the cars they are inquiring about. Just a thought...

I'm sure that they get those kinds of requests every day, but they have always responded to my questions within a week. Maybe they are being more careful than before with all the fakes of TZs and the like around....but I don't why they would be all that concerned with something like an Alfetta.

Paul,
That is a bit odd... Did they give you any info on your car, or did they ask for the pics and plate number as a pre-condition to provide info?

Best regards,

Dear Mister Manke,

to answer you in the best way possible, I need a photo of the car and a photo of the chassis number printed on the body car.

See you.

I wrote them some time ago and didn't asked me for a pic. They answered me in a couple of weeks.

It could aslo be that their records are a bit messed up, and the picture and chassis number will clarify whatever it is that needs to be cleared up. I would send the pic and number without hesitation.

Best regards,

Best regards,
I tend to agree here that it is most likely their records that are askew based on Pat's personal experience with the archives and finding things in their filing system or lack thereof. I don't know that I would send a picture and chassis number without hesitation, but I would send a "copy" of it --- certainly not the original, you may never see again. It could just become "their" personal "archival" property.

I doubt seriously if by asking for a picture they are attempting to prevent fraud or the release of unauthorized information. There are so many "good" criminals out there, who if they are intent on producing a "fraudulent vehicle" this is hardly going to stop them or dissuade them. Case in point, they're not asking for a current registration to prove you "own" the car, you could have a picture from when you owned the car 20 years ago, and they are hardly going to take the time to search worldwide records to determine if what you furnish is legitimate; no one would ever get the information they were requesting if that was the case. Plus anyone intent on purporting a fraud probably has the means to create a photograph both physically, meaning stamping set and other necessities as well as the electronic means to doctor a photograph. Just the age we live in, the availability of information at your fingertips, and that "criminals" have more tools at their disposal to use to accomplish the task.

I would hope that there are people out there who think that it would be worth their time to produce a "fraudulent Alfetta"
That would mean that the Alfettas are gaining value and are maybe a car to keep
