That sounds like AR146 Bordeaux Red.

All the 164 paint codes are listed here.
Note: this is a North American technical service bulletin with paint codes. I don't know if Alfa had the same colour options in Europe or other markets.

My '66 Duetto was originally navy blue. It was repainted fly yellow, with the inner cowl, underhood, door jambs and trunk painted as well. I was told that it didn't sell, so they repainted it yellow and titled it as a '67. I am a little confused though, because I thought Duettos were offered first as '67 models, and not as '66's, so the whole story could be fantasy. I do know it was raced for a number of years as a yellow car by its first owner. It's got GT East and Road America stickers on it, as well as the ever present Autodelta stickers.....Dan
