Information wanted about the Alfasud(s) imported by Alfa USA 1972-1974.
I know that Alfa Romeo USA imported one to three Alfasud's to have them tested, and to have them checked out to see if the car would suit the American market.
I have spoken to a lot of people who where closely involved at the importing/testing of these cars, but all the stories are conflicting.
It is for sure that one 2-door car came to the USA, the original colour is not known but this car was for sale by Tom Zat for a long time. It was repainted early in the seventies in red with yellow stripes. It is not known when this car came to the USA, so it is also not known if this is a normal 2-door car or an early Alfasud TI.
Than there are stories that 2 other cars also came to the USA of which one was used for a chrash test. The other one, a white one end up in Canada from where it was sold a couple of years ago to a collector and went back to the USA.
To sum things up I would love to :
1. Find out the original colour of the 2-door 'Tom Zat' car .
2. Find out the excact date when the Tom Zat 2-door car came to the USA.
3. Find out more about the two other Alfasud's.
4. Find any pictures/scans etc, of this/these Alfasud(s).
5. To get a copy of the antique listing from Mr Don Black of all Alfa test vehicle's sent to the USA.
I hope that there are any American Alfisti who are able/willing to help me with these questions.
Kind regards,
Rody
