Question About Vintage Racing Helmet

I am a collector of vintage racing helmets and I have one that I can not identify. It's a flat back Alfa Romeo Martini racing helmet. It has no snell markings that would identify it as actual race used, but it's not a replica (I don't think). If anyone has any idea please let me know. I'm just stumped!!

Hmmm ... maybe this is just a wild shot in the dark, but it doesn't look unlike the kind of full-face helmets that speed skiers and bobsled etc teams were using 20 or so years ago. Martini have sponsored all kinds of competitive sports, so you never know ...

Alex.

That may be possible, but I have already checked the bobsleding sites and they don't think so. But it does say "Alfa Romeo" on the flat back just about as big as you could get it. Do you know if Alfa ever sponsored Skiing or Bobsleding?

I don't know a thing about it, but I know Alfa sponsors sailing boats; did they ever sponsor speed boat racing? Do some speedboats have open cockpits where an aerodynamic helmet would be an advantage? (Grasping here, I know . . .)

I have no idea. I have emailed Alfa but have had no response. They probably have better thing to do like sell cars. I will post a picture of the flat back so you can see the markings. Thanks
