Bobcor
Just perused his site and there's some great history there, obviously. You may find this interesting:

Pretty good reading there Steve. I dug the story about racing the Montreal.
Incidentally, they're selling a 1967 GTV on eBay right now. They are claiming that it's totally restored for a mere [choke] $22,000!

I miss Bobcor!
It's now "Park Avenue Acura" and although a few of the parts guys are still there it's nothing like before.

I'm very confused by the (choke) 22k GTV. I think they are selling it as is, or if they restore it, for 22k. It's not worded well at all, and that AIN'T no 22k GTV, for heaven's sake! The headlight ring is off center, it has the wrong antenna, wheels, etc. It's just a fairly straight '67 GTV at this point.

That's exactly what I was hinting at with my [choke] comment, Steve. Their website states that the GTV would sell for $22,000 if the new owner wants Bobcor to restore it. However, the eBay auction price starts at $22,000 with no mention of it already being restored. Regardless, I haven't seen a 105 coupe fetch that much money in years. And the GTV's I saw that did sell for that kind of money, went to Japan. This was many years ago when rich Japanese collectors were paying unheard of prices for Alfas, muscle cars, low-riders, etc.

Yes, I meant that I was confused by the advert! GTV's just aren't selling for that (yet). Who knows what the future holds for Alfa prices, but that car's not going to sell unrestored for $22k, that's for sure. If Bobcor puts a 4 cyl motor with 8 plugs in it, maybe it will!

I spoke to these guys a while back about a couple GTVs they had. I have to say I really didn't get a good feeling.
It was like talking to some used car salesmen.
Of course this is just my opinion.

I'm doing a little automotive archaeology. I have literature indicating that my car (a 77 Alfa Spider) was serviced by and perhaps sold by Bobcor in NJ. Can anyone tell me about this dealer? Was it THE one that sold Alfas pretty much right off the wharf?

Bobcor had a few locations, the most recent being in Maywood, NJ, just off Route 17, IIRC. Here's their description of the biz, from a circa 1975 flyer.

re Bobcor
Steve look under For Sale and wanted under "never seen one etc." for my feelings on this subject-these guys are just fishing for customers. We have yet to hear of anyone getting or having had a restoration done by them. I wanted one of their cool posters they were advertising- the one of the two GTAs but they returned my check claiming no stock and little hope for future offerings. Fred.

In the seventies and early eighties Bobcor ruled. He had service work coming in from all over the tristate area and sold a bunch of cars. There was a picture of John Oates (Hall & Oates) in Circus Magazine leaning on his Spider with a Bobcor plate frame. Bob did more to promote Alfa than Alfa did during that time.

there's another post about Alfa's up on 2 wheels and I was hoping that someone would post a photo of the old Bobcor Trans Am coupes up on 2 wheels, that's what I remember about the old bobcor, that and catalogs full of specs and advice. But now we have Centerline's great website. If they ever start hawking overpriced Alfa's and ignore everything else I'll just throw in the towel.
