I like Route Classiche and La Manovella better, but they are almost impossible to fine on this side of the big pond...

Grand Sport Zagato Quatroroute
I got one of these illusive beast in captivity, you may ask me any questions about it, as long as you don't call it a REPLICA
My car is believed to be the only rhd built and was imported to Australia by the then Sydney Alfa importer Alex Mildren.

Beautiful car Does it handle well? That must be heaps of fun in the hills above Byron. My banger Super spent the last 25 years somewhere near Nimbin.
Did you have this car restored?
I have also heard that your 2000 GTV is quite special as well... perhaps another thread

4r
it handles like a go-kart. and yes it is great fun to blast round the hills up here in it. The only worry is all the boxy Volvo's coming round the bends on the wrong side of the road. My car has never been restored and still has not reached 50000km's, so it is barely run in.
My 2000 GTV is nice too, its the 1974 Motorshow car.

4R Zagato
and an other lot
OK now I feel like a right show off.
The US publicity flyer with price should make some of you think that you should have bought one.

Very original-
arco27- nice to see you've pretty much left your 4R alone- most have been switched to dual webers or at least had the TI air cleaner pitched! The funniest thing is the switch on the dash that made the heater light come on and nothing else, because of course there is/was no heater or blower! What is your car #? I think the one I restored was #72 built in 67 and has appeared on the BB before- red w/ black fenders. Fred.

My 4R is pretty much original. The first owner did not like the imitation wood dash and sprayed it mat black. He also had the seats re-upholstered really thick, because he reckoned that they where uncomfortable, but they looked ugly so I returned them to there original state. My car is fitted with a little round heater that works very well, at least it keeps your feet boiling while your nose freezes off.
The chassis number of my car is type 101.23.393909 and the engine number is AR 00112 164474. According to Ms. Elvira Ruocco of the Centro Ducumentzione Storica at Alfa Romeo in Arese the chassis and engine where sold to Zagato on May 30, 1966. Non of this tallies up with the FUSI Book, so I don't know if my car, being a one off is in addition to the 92 cars supportingly produced.
I have seen about 5 4R's over the years and non of them are identical. I is nice to know that they where hand crafted.

I saw the Lugazzo car as well. It seemed to me an early prototype, fixed windscreen, roof setup is different and those ugly bumper bars and 14" wheels. It is also fitted with a wrong engine, probably a 105 1600 or 1750 (I could not get close enough) instead of the original 101 1600. I have absolutely no complaints about the built quality of mine, if anything I feel its built is better then most contemporary Italian cars.
