And for the post-war cars...

Louis Vuitton Classic 2003

Richard, can I ask you a question ? I was wondering if you were related to David Owen? He wrote books (maybe he still does) over Alfa Romeo. I have one in my possession, but i'll have to ask the wife where she put it...

The RMs had a 2 liter motor rated at only 15 Hp, and with that kind of coachwork, I doubt if this car had a top speed over 50 mph.

I have images from two photographers from that event, and they both missed this fabulous Alfa. Whoops!

Both my photographers got distracted by this beast. An odd 1939 Alfa Romeo 6C-2500SS Touring Cabriolet of which I don't know anything about.

That is not a 6c2500, it's a 6c2300. Either the engine is incorrect, or it has the wrong intake manifold. It should 2 carb rather than 3 carb. Coachwork is by Touring. The car is ex-Scuderia Ambrosiana.

Hi Richard,
I've took these pictures during the Louis Vuiton Classic in 2003. You could find them here Alfa Romeo RM, Torpédo Zagato - 1925 .
I've also took some pictures of the Alfa Romeo 6C-2300, Biplace Course Touring - 1938.
Some others Alfa Romeo were present for this edition:

The beautiful black one, was build by Touring in 1938 for the Driver Frank Cortese who was a driver in the Scuderia Ambrosiana, and it was build on a 6C2300 MM chassis

Nice SZ on Amadori wheels. Does anyone know the story on it (owner, history, chassis no, etc.)? - George

Through another AlfaBB thread I became aware of the Klemantaski photo collection, where the caption of what appears to be a picture of this car makes reference to a 6c-2600 from 1936. Could they have both the engine size AND the date wrong?

There's no such thing.

I'm afraid yes.

Well, I haven't checked for the date. A look in the Touring Superleggera book should do it.
