60's Brazil

If anyone can read Portuguese, I came across an interesting website which chronicles many club races held in Brazil in the 1950s and 1960s, including some great shots of people who went on to bigger things, like Carlos Pace and Wilson & Emerson Fittipaldi.

Anyway there's an answer to the fates of one of the 501 Giulia Ti Supers and what looks like a brand new LHD GTA (in both cases, it wasn't a happy ending, not for the squeamish). There's also a neat sequence of film stills showing what appears to be a white GTA or GTV taking avoiding action from a spinning car on a makeshift street circuit. On a further page, there's a shot of a dark grey Giulia cornering hard on a circuit lined with crowds of spectators. At the bottom of that page there are links to further race weekends and lots about indigenous Brazilian VW-based sportscars, so perhaps the truly curious can delve into that. Apologies if this has been covered before!

Alex.
