Interesting thread guys.

I just aquired a set of wheels for my GTV V6 3.0.
Will get them reconditioned then add some tyres.
Whats the best size tyre to use for the 15 -7 ronals.??
First pic are the originals, second and the new ones.
Next project will be gearbox ratios from a twin spark.
Hate that standard 1st gear that goes nowhere.
Gotta love that 3 litre engine ,cheap power.
Lets keep this thread friendly guys.
The new wheels are from a GTV V6 wreck that i got

For a wreck it looks great! For my Ronal A1s I was thinking of 205/50/15 - I wish I could get Pirelli P Zero for them, but I'm sure I'll find something. According to Discount Tire a 195/60/15 which for a comfortable ride would be fine - I'm currently driving a Volvo 850R Wagon with 45s all round - very bumpy.

Discount Tires for 195/60/15 Tire Products By Vehicle - Discount Tire Co.

Discount Tires for 205/55/15 Tire Products By Vehicle - Discount Tire Co.

Misc ramblings - back to work for me ....

Cheers,
Karyn

I have a 3.0 '6 also; in my experience for 15 x 7 wheels, 205-55's will be closest to stock (slight reducing of side wall height so ride is substantially the same feel with about the same "crispness" for turning, minimal effect on ride height and speedo, down-side is not too much available in this size, Dunlop did make this size in a decent street performance "flavor", in fact my street tires are this size but don't know if they still do).

for higher performance dry/street or track days, try 205-50 - lots of choices or with some trimming of the inner lip of the front air dam and paying close attention to the sharp metal in the inner rear wheel well arch, 225-50 will maybe fit (operative word - maybe) I've run both in R compund DOT legal "race" for track days, time trials etc. and think that 225-50 is a bit too much tire and next set I'll probably go back to 205-50.

the thing about R compound tires it that in dry conditions with some heat in them, thge grip is nothing short of spectacular, but in the rain they can be frightening (which is why I'm not a big fan of these tires as your everyday/street choice.)

also remember that the numbers (205-50, 225-50 etc.) are the manufacture's using the closets obvious size rating and that not every manufacturer's 205-50 is the same rolling distrance/circumference or width or even height is the same as any other manufacturer's offerings of the "same" size.

anyway, enjoy but remember now that you've started this thread and goten others "started", you really should post/let us know what size and brand you end up with...

All sounds good Griffo.
I will get the 5 Ronal wheels reconditioned first, then worry about tyre size.
I am familiar with the R tyres,as I race on them, but too harsh on roads.
I would rather a more comfortable tyre on the V6 than an R tyre.
Hey,I didnt start this thread.
Was just interesting that others had Ronal wheels available.
There are many wheels around, but I aquired these wheels with a wreck, and thought they were different + nice.
I added extractors to the engine, and maybe soon some Q cams.
I just want to sort the gearbox ratios first.
Chat soon.

Robert

Ronal A1

these wheels are prone to cracking right at the circles - when you have them stripped down for refinish, inspect carefully.
as to size 205/50/15 works great. can fit 225/45/15s in there.
best of luck
andy

You know I was thinking of repainting my car a different color, but after seeing yours I may keep it gold - you have a beautiful car!

Hi, I don't own an Alfetta GTV 6 yet but have been saving money and look forward to buy one as soon I can (it'll likely be the only GTV 6 in Bolivia). About the gear ratios I read, models of 86 and 86 are best.

About wheels: I find RONAL A1 SO PRETTY!!! I was about to buy them, before the car but then stumbled upon these threads: it seams they do have problems.

BridgeToGantry.com - Everything Nurburgring Nordschleife! - Always check your wheels...

Ronal A1's getting old - inspect yours!

Just be aware. Enjoy all your gems. Alvaro

I had the 15-inch OZ wheels on my 86 GTV6 that I sold back in Nov 07. The previous owner had purchased the wheels from the UK. I wish I had a set now to put on my 88 Verde
