Article on 1958 Abarth Alfa Romeo
There is an interesting article in the November 2008 issue of "Hemmings Sports & Exotic Car" on a competition car that Abarth built in '58 based on an Alfa Giulietta. The article by Karl Ludvigsen appears on pgs 62 - 65 (and no, I won't scan it and post it on the Internet).
The engineering that went into this car is fairly impressive. Ludvigsen explains how Abarth was shooting for a one liter displacement, so he destroked the 1300, producing an engine that delivered 88hp at 8,000 rpm.
I have only subscribed to "Sports & Exotic Car" for a few months, but I have found it to be pretty good. Unlike most other car magazines, it doesn't contain page after page of boring road tests of the newest Honda/Mitsubishi/Kia. And, there are a fair number of DIY articles.
