"mostly fun for us swedes this :-) "
No I think it is fun, too. Even more if we pay attention.
There is information for the 1900 Touring Coupe in 1955.
There is some short film from the race here:
Suomen Kaitafilmi ry
http://www.suomenkaitafilmi.fi/filkat/eltsun-ajot2.wmv
and there was a discussion of the film at TNF. I think there was some confusion of scenes in that discussion, but it is still helpful. Maybe Tomas can give an update: Atlas F1 Bulletin Board - Eltsu - a classic Finnish racing circuit

OOOOPS
And now for the english translation
Attached you´ll find 1900 C 01976 at Djurgårdsloppet 1955, wrong date by me earlier. Clearly a different coloursheme to the one on biz picture.

Svenska Rallyt till Midnattssolen
Clearly not 6c3000cm Zagato related, but as this has turned into something of a general Jo Bonnier thread...
Can someone (Thomas?) with knowledge please tell about Joakim Bonnier (and his Alfa Romeos) in Midnattsolsrallyt in 1954,55,56,57 (did he enter more?)
A picture of G. Bengtssons 1900SSZ in the 56 rally would be nice also...

With no doubt we need Thomas Karlsson here.
What we have got is race no 3 or 8 a Alfa Romeo 1900 Super Sprint series II or III depending on how you count in a two colour paint sheme, pale bottom and dark roof. I know for 99.9999 % that this is #01976.
Then Race no 5 also a 1900 Super Sprint of the same series with what looks like a Swedish Registration painted a solid medium dark colour.
Which one of the Swedish Super Sprints was this ?
Can anyone enlarge biz5300´s picture so that we can read the reg no ?

We do need Tomas. I did get a quick note from him:
"The last picture are from 1957."

I think he meant the last picture--the two color car. But let's let Tomas have a chance to reply...

Posting #33 by Björn "Superleggera"
I recognize Peter Marshall's writing above the photo and he is also the source of a reference in my files of AR1900C*01976 having been sold on the same penned date to a Milanese owner (name begining "Bec....") and we do know the Milano plate number ... which I have not researched myself and will not share casually until it becomes available another way. Even so, it may not be prudent to bandy these kinds of numbers around casually? For those who do not know, this kind of information can be abused and I have been taken to task in the past by sharing "too much" information about certain vetture. I can see the justification, particularly when the car is not known today. So, I tend to defer to a tendency to caution these days. Peter also noted the color combination and the Bonnier connection ... which does not mean that he actually owned it when he raced it. But, it does seem likely that the vettura was sold quickly to Sweden but that it had not yet been re-registered when the 1955 race was run. Oh, and Peter referred to it as "T3". Don't know if he would still say that today. I tend to avoid such labels as I feel they can carry implications that may not be exactly correct for certain vetture that were often a bit "special".

Hi John
I do understand what you are saying and I do agree, in this case what is beeing said is that the two tone car did obviously/seemingly participate in Helsinki some time in the mid 50´s. This car has a well covered continous history in Sweden where it still is well alive and slowly progressing towards running order. It came to Sweden on the same Italian plates as in Helsinki and was probably registered here after the races and NO It´s not my car mine is 01076 Series 1.
What is interseting in this discussion at least for me is
A/ Which AR 1900´s did run in Helsinki, there are about 10 to choose from but almost none of them has any racing records from Swedish races in the 50´s with the exeption of the 3 Zagatos that where here.
B/ Who raced them. I
If it was Bonnier or not is of less interest, Several people seems to think the own an old racecar as the registration records says 1´st owner "Bonniers Bilbolag" and yes Joakim Bonnier was part owner in this company who was the then agent for Alfa Romeo in Sweden, But I very much doubt he did never see nor drove many of the about 250 Alfas that passed through "Bonniers Bilbolag"

If you don't count the racecars, which have a history from 1933 to 1955, here are the Alfa Romeos that raced in the Helsinki races round the Djurgårds park (I don't know anything about the Finnish cars, sorry):
1955
Seriesport -2000cc 1. Jo Bonnier #5 1900SS Reg: A81556
1956
Seriesport -2000cc 3. Väinö Hollming #3
Seriesport -2000cc 4. Jussi Reunanen #2
Seriesport -2000cc ? Carl-Otto Bremer #1
1957
Tourist -2000cc 2. Jo Bonnier #3 1900SS (the two-tone car)
Tourist -2000cc 7. Väinö Hollming #7 1900?
1958
Tourist -2000cc 4. Harald Kronegård #8 Giulietta Veloce?
1963
Gr II -1600cc 6. Esko Keinänen #4
Bonnier and Kronegård are the only Swedish drivers.

Well that sucks. Yet another important Alfa person that has passed away in the last few years. Do you have an e-mail or address that I can send condolences to?
