Hedemoraloppet 1954-05-23
John
In Hedemora 1954, Jo drove his Alfa Romeo 1900 SS
Startnumber 44, Standardsportcars 1601-2600 cc.
I think he finished 3rd
I know Thomas O Karlsson or Biz surely knows more details.
I have seen a picture rather recently of Bonnier from this race, I think it was in the Swedish magazine "Classic Car" (or maybe "Nostalgia"...) I think Per-Arne Johansson provided the photo.
I have not my copy of "Fort, Fortare, Fortast" at home (I do think my brother have lended it), but I recall Jo writing rather much about this race in it, ie selecting reverse at the "le Mans" type start.

Bonnier - 1954 through 1956
Here is a hasty edit of the Bonnier research notes that I've compiled thus far on the time period 1954-56. Maybe it will serve to place us all on the same page as to what we think we know of those early times and how they relate to the 3000CM N. 00125. I'm sure there are details on threads here on the Alfa BB that I've not noted yet. I've not made a thorough study of online references either.
Enjoy! And please share what you know ... when you can.
John

He entered a 1900 TI at hedemora.. no SS
Seriously.. Send me the questions you want to ask Boessen to osca1600gt@gmail.com and I will compile them and visit him in the 2 weeks that I have agreed with him.. Will also be looking CLOSELY at his archive again..

something strange here...... The car pictures at Bari(we think) also has a different front from the car pictured by wessels. Looking at John's listing says ref Tomas Karlsson, crashed into hay and damaged nose... So we have lots of looks o this car.
1. Colli body
2. Original Zagato spider body 1955
3. Different windscreen and slight changes to grille
4. New front at Bari
5. Yet ANOTHER front when sold.

Isn't the driver at "Bari" wearing a black or dark helmet? . I have only seen Bonnier in white or beige helmets.. Comments?

Back to this old thread about bonnier and the 6cm etc.. There was some doubt what Alfa he entered and won Oulton park with in 1956.. I just found this picture in an old Autosport issue showing Jo Bo in the 1900 SS Zagato winning the under 2000cc race..
Also in the main race Bonnier did not drive his 6 CM but Ken Wharton did...

Bonnier racing in the UK
Any ideas of where and when ?
According to what I´ve heard Bonnier could have done the Djurgårdsloppet 1954 in Helsinki (Helsingfors) Finland in a 1900 Super Sprint, anyone who can confirm or denie.

Maybe this:
AR1900TI, Bonnier Oulton Park 27.8.55, 1st o/a in saloon car race.
He also had the 6c300CM Zagato there (DNF)

mostly fun for us swedes this :-) we never had too many great drivers... I also found a few pics going through most autosport issues from the 50s yesterday.. These pics of Bonnier in the Centro sud 250 F and his black/gold 150S
The first one is the 150 S at Silverstone 1956
