Motor guy in Montreal
Hey all,
Is there a good motor guy in Montreal for a 69 GTV 1750? I am currently in the process of getting one from the US that will need extensive motor work. It may be wise to get the motor and transmission rebuilt correctly. If there is no one in Montreal, then how about Toronto?
Thanks,

Hey Rossano,
Dellorto carbs. Not sure if that's good or bad.... Looking forward to the project, winters are long in montreal. I don't think I'll be doing any of the motor work. Hopefully prices will be reasonable (ha,ha..) and I can get the work done while I concentrate on everything else. Will keep you posted as things start to happen

Hi:
I lived many years in Montreal and had Alfas there. I even had one with Dellorto carbs.
Some resources I had (most of them very good, some not so good) were MAFRA (need to be careful with them on price but overall OK), Salvatore in Mtl North (Best carb man for sure, but would not know where he is today), and Pietro Pietrantonio ??? (sp) from ?? (Pointe -aux- Trembles?) (heck, my memory is losing me ... he supplied many parts and did work on Alfas and Fiats).
Bonne chance!

mechanic
Ciao Nico
GT Junior is bang on Sylvestre Nardone and his son Olivier are great. They have been taking care of me for 4 years, very honest and fair.
Parts will be cheaoer with International Auto parts. In a pinch Remo will come through but at a premium. In my opinion you should avoid mafra.

Saracino quoted " In my opinion you should avoid mafra"
Right you are my friend. I have known him for years and avoided him. Used Salvatore, Remo, and others.
Once, traveling to Montreal for the Grand Prix, I had a problem with my tranny and thought I'd fix it in Montreal (better exchange rate?) at his place. What a disaster that was! I am still paying for in today with continous fixings of his gross mistakes. My mechanic - when he saw the work he did - said "whomever worked on your car is an amateur at best!"

I agree about Sylvestre. When I lived there (11 + years ago) he did all my mechanical work and I was always pleased. My office was near a Metro station so would even pick up and deliver the car.

Hey luigi,
Stopped by to see Sylvestre yesterday. Great guy. I think is just the guy I was looking for. Bringing the motor and transmission to him later this week. Thanks a lot.
